"The Bronco broke a lot of new ground, offering the best of both freeway and off-road driving, opening up the big country to Americans who had seldom adventured beyond shopping malls and interstate highway rest areas." – Auto Editors of Consumer Guide

Hagerty | Media provides some Bronco history: "Built as a direct competitor to the International Scout, the original Ford Bronco was initially offered in three cab types: a wagon, a pickup (discontinued after 1972).... The four-wheel-drive Bronco earned a loyal following from new. Interest increased in the central plains states and the American west, while they also disappeared rapidly from the northern states, being a good platform for a small snowplow and the perfect get-around vehicle in the winter."

"Today the Bronco's legacy is as one of the progenitors of the compact SUV craze that hit in full force in the 1990s and later. And while many models are more capable off-road, few can do it with such style."

Offered here is a fully restored and upgraded, 2-owner, '76 Bronco in Ford's signature Mecca Gold-and-white over ivory. Needless to say, the popularity of first-generation Broncos has surged dramatically in recent years. The result has been a booming business in restorations. The '76 Bronco offered here-originally delivered in Fremont, California on August 21, 1976 with history in California and Nevada-has been respectfully treated to a comprehensive, professional restoration. The result is an exceptional, authentic, and fully documented build ready for its next owner's adventures. The Bronco's odometer shows 106,956 original miles, fewer than 2,400 miles per-year on average since new.

On the exterior, the Mecca Gold (Code Y) paint-a terrific, authentic Bronco choice-under a white top was professionally applied in 2018; the finish is uniformly glossy and free of even a hint of wear or damage. The body is perfectly restored with no "cut" fenders. (To best assess the quality of the paint and trim finishes, be sure to view the close-up photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.) "Ford" identification centered in the front grille (and the front grille itself), are correctly painted. Original "Bronco" fender emblems are properly in place, and the white-painted, embossed "Bronco" tailgate identification is perfect. Chrome bumpers front and rear are pristine. All lighting lenses are crystal-clear; windshield glass is free of any imperfections. Stock, ivory-painted 15-inch steel wheels (with front locking hubs and Ford-crest original full wheel covers) are mounted with BFGoodrich® All-Terrain T/A raised-white-letter 235/75 tires (including the matching rear-mounted, swing-away spare). Without exaggeration, every exterior surface on the Bronco appears virtually brand new.

Inside, the completely refreshed stock look is equally impressive. Dash top and trim, ivory vinyl upholstery on the front bucket and rear bench seats, fresh black cabin carpeting, door-retaining straps, the large left-offset speedometer, the original Ford-branded steering wheel, the simple dash-mounted switches, the factory AM radio all display the perfect stock look. The shifter for the rebuilt automatic transmission is mounted on the column while the selector for the transfer case is floor-mounted. A Kenwood® audio head unit is perfectly mounted in the factory-radio location. The Bronco features power steering and front disc brakes as well as both primary and auxiliary fuel tanks. Every surface in the Bronco's interior-every control feature, every bit of upholstery, everything-is virtually perfect in look, feel, and function. (Please view the close-up photography in the gallery to appreciate the excellent condition of the Bronco's interior surfaces.)

The view under the hood is spectacular: a numbers-matching, 302 Ford V8 with Edelbrock® top end, polished-metal finned, open-sided air-cleaner, "Bronco Powered by Ford" finned valve covers, and proper Ford-blue engine-block paint. The engine bay is perfectly clean with all components properly in place. Underneath the Bronco, it's the same story: the suspension, drivetrain, steering system, front disc brakes, and dual performance-exhaust system are equally impressive; most components and underbody panels have been treated with rust-inhibiting coating. The chassis is perfectly straight, clean, and free of any damage.

The Bronco's original VIN tag is still riveted to the body, and the protect-o-plate is also included.

About Garage Kept Motors

Garage Kept Motors, LLC specializes in classic and specialty online auto sales.

For our consignors, we are the only auto brokers that offer a Transparent Sale Disclosure. This means, when a car sells, we provide an exact copy of the Bill of Sale. We do this so our clients know exactly who bought their car, where it went, and most importantly how much we sold it for. No funny business.

For our buyers, our vehicles are listed on the Internet, with over 100 photos, including undercarriage pictures, and walk-around videos of the vehicles running plus a narrative-style write-up of the cars history and features. Our international exposure allows us to sell cars across the globe, and we sell a majority of them out of state and overseas. We deliver honesty and consistency in our photos and descriptions, a “no surprise” approach, so buyers, both near and far, can invest with confidence sight unseen. We are not a gallery. Vehicles can be seen locally by appointment as potential buyers are given our undivided attention.
