"Toyota Land Cruiser wagons do nothing but go up in value." – Hagerty

Toyota's factory website provides a bit of model history: "For 1980, Toyota replaced the Land Cruiser 55 Series with the all-new 60 Series (FJ60), which offered greater comfort while still retaining the rugged capability. The one millionth Land Cruiser was built that year."

"The Land Cruiser 60 Series evolved slowly through the 1980s, a decade that would see significant growth in the SUV market. The 1988 Land Cruiser was updated with a new dash and upgraded interior, and a new 155-horsepower 3F 4.0-liter engine replaced the old 4.2 liter. Rectangular headlamps immediately identify the 1988 model."

Offered here is a very well-maintained and recently repainted FJ62 Toyota Land Cruiser in its factory-original colors, beige metallic over tan. The truck's 226,131 recorded miles (roughly 6,800 miles per-year on average from new) is actually well below what's considered "average mileage" for any vehicle, and more importantly, not even close to maximum mileage for these legendary Land Cruisers. Indeed, the model's longevity, in part, accounts for its continued high demand.

The FJ's exterior beige-metallic paint was clearly applied by professionals. The finish is smooth, even, and consistently glossy across every body panel, including lower-body metal. Door jambs and other non-exterior surfaces match beautifully, so much so that most casual observers wouldn't believe the truck had been re-painted. The condition of other body trim-the front grille, chrome bumpers fore and aft, chrome door handles and side mirrors, rubber bumper-corner covers-is as impressive as the paint. All factory emblems-including the "4-Wheel Drive" rear-deck-lid badge and rear-fender "Toyota LandCruiser" badges-are correctly mounted. Tinted cabin glass and all lighting lenses are free of damage. Chrome wheels in good condition are mounted with a matched set of BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A® tires.

The truck's interior condition is as impressive as the exterior. The tweed-weave, tan-fabric upholstery on both rows of seats is complemented by dark-brown vinyl trim; its condition is impressive with no tears, rips, or even much sign of use. Door trim is a handsome combination of vertically striped fabric, dark-brown vinyl, and carpeting. Cabin floors are also carpeted in dark brown in good condition; only the cargo area carpeting shows notable wear from use. The dark-brown dashboard shows cracking from sun exposure. Analog instrumentation is stock; lenses are clear. An upgraded Pioneer® audio head unit is mounted in the factory-radio location. Selector levers for the 4-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel-drive transfer case are floor-mounted.

Under the hood, the legendarily long-lived Toyota inline 6-cylinder commands a properly equipped and extremely clean engine bay. There are few signs of its age or mileage. The extensive hoses and wiring are correctly in place and properly routed. All components-including factory air conditioning-are present; no modifications are noted. Viewed from below, the chassis is complete with no sign of damage as might be the case from too-aggressive off-road driving styles.

The FJ's factory data and identification tags remain properly riveted in place.

While the more than 160 high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup video available on the GarageKeptMotors website showcase this Land Cruiser FJ62 in detail from every angle, including from below, we expect and encourage in-person inspections at our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom. Please call to arrange an appointment in advance as our showroom is not open to the public. And feel free to get in touch anytime by phone or email if you have questions.

Not only can the next owner of this FJ62 expect plenty of additional miles ahead, he or she will appreciate the quality, well-maintained condition, and comfort of this truck over every one of those miles.

About Garage Kept Motors

Garage Kept Motors, LLC specializes in classic and specialty online auto sales.

For our consignors, we are the only auto brokers that offer a Transparent Sale Disclosure. This means, when a car sells, we provide an exact copy of the Bill of Sale. We do this so our clients know exactly who bought their car, where it went, and most importantly how much we sold it for. No funny business.

For our buyers, our vehicles are listed on the Internet, with over 100 photos, including undercarriage pictures, and walk-around videos of the vehicles running plus a narrative-style write-up of the cars history and features. Our international exposure allows us to sell cars across the globe, and we sell a majority of them out of state and overseas. We deliver honesty and consistency in our photos and descriptions, a “no surprise” approach, so buyers, both near and far, can invest with confidence sight unseen. We are not a gallery. Vehicles can be seen locally by appointment as potential buyers are given our undivided attention.
