O.K. so
Here's "big orange."
This is a full 15 passenger sportsman.1 ton. ALL steel.. ALL windows. ALL seats !
Interior is beautiful for it's age. No rips or tares, great olle ceiling is in great shape, engine runs great.
Original, newly rebuilt carter thermoquad four barrel carburetor.
Floor button high beams !! don't forget to turn the headlight off, no idiot dinger in this one.i have this childhood memory of being afraid to get in car at night, NO interior lights come on when you open the door ! it's the real deal.on those dark nights, just brace yourself, open the door and get in. or if your chicken, you could turn the interior light on via the knob, conveniently placed right inside the drivers door.
Now if you take your sweetie for a drive, go around and unlock the door from outside, with the key . it's classy,  and,  it's a long reach across the inside of the van to unlock the passenger's door... no pulling the handle on this one...gotta pull UP on the little black lock knobs.
NICE set of "Mountain climber" tires, dog dish hub caps, crank up ROOF VENT !!
Leave your windows cracked, gets hot in the sun.. could start vegetables in here..
Been using a winshield shade since i bought it...
Dash is beautiful, NO nonesense.Just a couple buttons and levers, all function like new.
The two dash vents are pretty dried out BUT, it comes with a nice original replacement set form another 1980...
PLAID SEATS!! and matching WAINSCOT. Even comes with 2 upholstered "pouches" matching tan and can be fastened anywhere.
All lap belts. This was back when  "mom's arm" was your only shoulder restraint...
Now i bought this van in Iowa from a ww2 veteran. It was first purchased by the Iowa DOT in 1980. Custom painted "Omaha orange".   They used it to get workers out to the highway. still had trident wrappers in the ashtray, from back when there was only one flavor ! RED!
So he bought it at the state auction. 1996. Bought it in  for a back up vehicle for his "cattle handling equipment" business. HE NEVER USED IT !!
I asked him, "why didn't you use it ?' he said " Inever needed a back up".
His mechanics kept it up and ,when not in use, it was stored in his shop. If there was any body work done on it, it was before his time and i don't know about it.
The body is completely solid ..with routine maintenance, it seems he put apx. 3000 miles on it between 1996 and 2019.
Now, i will soon ad photos of engine.
Engine is very clean.
I have no paperwork on this but, i bought this van on the premise that the engine & transmission were rebuilt at 88,000 and several other things including the radiator, exhaust  were serviced between 80 and 88,000 miles by the iowa d.o.t. before the 1996 sale.
My 13 year year old son and i caught a ride with a total stranger halfway across the country to meet a man we hoped was for real, hoping to buy a van we hoped existed...We landed in Collins, Iowa in the middle of the night. pitched a tent in the middle of a record heat wave, hoping to meet the owner of the van in the morning... anyway, we had a great time, and it all worked out.
Now then... mind you, this is a carbureted engine. If you want a smart car, this isn't the vehicle for you. Requires driver's smarts.   For instance, pumping the gas pedal for no good reason floods the engine, also, you give one full pump to the floor and release before a "cold start", a slow gentle push while turning the key for a "warm start", and DON'T mess with the pedal at ALL for a "hot start" (it's all right in the little owners manual. Still in the glove box.
And cruise control. works great too, if you don't mind pushing the pedal occasionally to readjust your speed. don't expect to keep a perfect 65 going uphill ! we're so spoiled now.
We replaced the gas tank (22 gallons) when we got home from iowa, also replaced the steering box with a nice brandy new one. And have a "still in the box" fuel pump sitting under the seat, although, there is nothing wrong with the on in it.
Now be ware, it aint to great on gas...and EFI would help, so would a good tune up.. holey tells me a sniper with the distibutor kit would give it a big boost...
  2 windshield wiper speeds !!
Heat is HOT, A.C. is not !! (taint to cold either)...

Needs a recharge, r-22. ( comes with a special gift under the seat. )
here's the bad...
Needs new window gasket around the push out windows...
As i said, a.c. is needing attention...but, comes with a free gift under the seat...
It had NO visible rust when i bought it... after 2 years in buffalo, every paint chip is rusting...
It also has a line of pimply rust breaking out horizontally across one of the side doors...ask for a picture.
Pease, rescue it from western new york, QUICK !!
I drove it a lot in the summer.. hardly in the winter. (two winters)
I have kept it OFF the roar this winter, got to keep it from the "big orange eater".
But it IS currently registered AND inspected.a weekly driver till winter weather hit.
It also has a small rust hole behind the rear bumper, was there when i bought it.( the seller, nor I noticed this till i got home.)
My reason for selling it is, i don't have the means to take care of it the way it needs..especially WINTERS..
Would make a great R.V., camper or tiny home.
Small enough to parallel park, Big enough to live in..
ANYWAY, you'll know what to do with it.
Oh yes, it also has a tow package. cant tell you much about it but, it's the original tow hitch package with trailer brake set up.
P.S. this vehicle is located in Hamburg,NY. NOT Rutland,VT..
ALSO, I DO NOT HAVE THE EBAY MOTORS APP !! if you have questions or want to make an offer, just use the contact seller option or make your offer. i will not respond with the "app" !
