1966 Shelby Cobra

*** Cobra Replica ***.  One of the earlier builds.  This Cobra was built in the mid 70's when the market for Cobra Replicas was just warming up.  Second owner took ownership in the very early 80's and had the car painted in the color combination you see here. (approximately 36-year-old paint job).  Included in the photos is one taken during the original build and two others taken from when the car was painted.  The car was originally set up with a 289 that was later replaced with a 390 and a C6 (yes automatic) off a 68 Mustang.  I don't know what the internals from this engine are, but I do know it runs strong and smooth. This car has new tires, new master cylinder, new starter, new distributor, new plug wires and spark plugs, new fuel pump, new fuel tank, a newly rebuilt Holley carburetor and a new tonneau cockpit cover.  The steering is also new with hydraulic assist and is very easy to drive.  It runs, starts and steers as good as a Cobra should and if there was ever a bargain entry priced Cobra to get you into owning one, it's this one.  As it should be expected, after 36 years of exposure to the elements and being driven on the roads the paint has had its share of scratches, rubs, nicks and parking lot chips and could benefit from a repaint if your direction is to participate for prizes at local shows. That said, this is the best example of “driver quality” a person can expect for the low reserve.   It is not perfect, but there is no denying it is every bit the head turner a Cobra has always been.  It is easy to drive, easy to steer, easy to parallel park and stops well.   

The photos show the car with the side pipes, but these were not functional on my car. I have since removed them and left only the rear exit exhausts.  I still have the pipes and will include them in the sale but please understand they are only from the collectors back and will not hook up to the exhaust manifolds (no collector hook ups). The car will be sold “As-is”, “Where–is”, and comes with NO warranty; expressed, written or implied.  Buyer is responsible for having the car inspected prior to purchasing. Shipping is also the buyer's responsibility.  I can and will assist in loading or coordinating the pick-up point from my end of it.

Please keep in mind this Cobra is a used car. It is being described to the best of my knowledge.  It is NOT perfect, it is NOT a new Backdraft, Superformance or Factory Five beauty. Please do not expect that level of product perfection.  This is early, grass roots build and even the underside of the hood and trunk lid are unfinished that can be purchase and driven without spending a ton of money.  The cost for this car is much less than the cost of a just kit that you would later have assemble and paint.   Ask questions before committing to a purchase and please, please do not bid if you have no intention of buying the car.  These ads are getting more expensive as time goes by.  If your E-bay bidding history is less than 10 please contact me before bidding.  Any bidders with less than 10 feedback and who do not contact me will have their bids removed.
