            1985 Jeep CJ-7 Renegade

I built this Jeep a little at a time over the past 8 years with the intention of having a dependable highway cruiser. We have too many toys now and we don't enjoy the Jeep as often like we had planned. We have put a whopping 1,600 miles on this toy in 8years...it doesn't get used like it should.

New AMC 360 V8 reman crate engine (installed at 64,000 miles on the Jeep odometer)

Removed the crate engine (at 64,906 miles) due to a vibration that ended up being an out-of-balance new flywheel.

Disassembled engine after the 3-yr warranty expired and it had about 900 miles on it by then.

Had the rotating assembly(crankshaft, rods, pistons, harmonic balancer, clutch disc, pressure plate, and new flywheel) balanced at the machine shop. They found the new flywheel way out of spec and corrected it.

Reassembled engine with new gaskets, rings, and bearings.

Installed the following during the rebuild:

Comp Cams custom grind camshaft: .523” lift, 230*(I)/236*(E) dur @ .050, 108*lobe separation.

Comp Cams double roller timing set

...and the list goes on!

This Jeep is 98% rust-free (some minor surface rust in the RH rocker and RH front fender, but hasn't popped through the paint) and built for fun weekend cruising but can double as a daily driver if needed.  It is a blast to drive in town or on the highway.  It tracks straight and doesn't wander at speeds up to around 85 (that's just the fastest I've had it...it'll do more!)  It is very nice but not perfect.  I would say it is nicer and built much better than 90% of the ones you will see for sale online.  Most others are just cobbed together lift kits with big tires for the "look". Mine has been built with "daily driving" in mind, not just a weekend mud toy. It runs good and drives good, makes good oil pressure, keeps low temps, doesn't leak, and sounds great! It could use some tweaking with the carb and timing to run at its full potential but is pretty good as is.
