1964 Buick Riviera

This 1964 Buick Riviera Super Wildcat is a well kept and documented two owner car with 72,829 original miles.  It was purchased new in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and remained in the first owner's family until I purchased it in 2007. The Super Wildcat was a rare option that included dual quad carter carburetors, chrome air cleaner, and  finned aluminum valve covers.  This option rated the Nailhead 425 at 360 hp, and was ordered on 2122 of the 37,658 Rivieras produced that year.  It is designated by the KX engine code, which is stamped and documented on this car.  This Riviera retains its original Protecto-Plate, as well as ample documentation of the maintenance and restoration work over the past few decades.

The 425 engine was completely rebuilt to factory specifications (with full documentation) in 2007, and has been driven about 2000 miles since.  The car runs and drives extremely well, and is ready to enjoy.  The front suspension was rebuilt and detailed by the previous owner, and I had the driveshaft, radiator, and exhaust system completely rebuilt as well.  The original finned aluminum drum brakes work well, and stop the car with ease.  The factory air conditioning was rebuilt in 2016, and upgraded with a Sanden compressor.  The AC blows ice cold, and the heat and entire climate control system works as it should, which is rare for a Riviera of this vintage.  The fuel system was serviced within the past year, and features a new sending unit, as well as a frame mounted, relay-controlled electric fuel pump for reliability.  It starts on the first try, and sounds wonderful.  

I have equipped this Buick with your choice of carburetor set-ups.  The factory dual quad unit was completely rebuilt and detailed, and I drove the car that way for several years.  The system did get a bit temperamental in heavy traffic during our 100+ degree Tucson summers, so I located a complete, original single four barrel set-up and swapped it out for increased reliability.  Buick Nailheads utilized a dry intake manifold, so it's very easy to swap between the two without disturbing the cooling system.  Both complete units come with the car, and the dual quads are ready to install if you so desire.

The car was painted once in 1995, and is still the factory color.  The paint has held up well, but does have several professional touch ups.   There is some very minor rust bubbling under the trim on the right side of the car, as shown in the photos. The interior was reupholstered in the factory patterns,  and the seats, dash pad, headliner, and carpet are in excellent condition.  All the weatherstipping was also replaced recently, and all four power windows function very well. The optional wood veneer trim will need some attention, but complete kits are readily available. The underside is clean and rust free, with perfect rockers and door bottoms.  This has always been a southern car, and has never seen winter driving.  The paint is not perfect, but shows very well and has been recently detailed and waxed.

There are a few items that will still need attention.  The wipers, horn, and cruise control are not functioning.  Turn signals work, but can be temperamental (common for Riveras).  The original radio works, but occasionally cuts out during cold weather.  The wing window cranks are included, but missing the retaining clips and not installed.
