Up for auction is an extremely well preserved 1978 Oldsmobile Cutlass Salon. This is the first year of the infamous "G Body" Oldsmobiles, featuring the unique "slant back" styling. It's hard to describe exactly how nice this car is without seeing it in person. A one owner car, driven daily and very well maintained since new, the car has been in storage for the last 18 years. Recently rescued and brought back to running condition by professional mechanics. Cosmetically, the car is in excellent condition for its age. Always garaged, the interior upholstery and trim look like new. Likewise, the body and paint are in very nice shape. A couple of minor dings, but absolutely no rust in the body structure, underbody, or frame. All glass and trim are in excellent condition.Mechanically, the car needs nothing to be driven as is. The engine starts easily and runs smoothly with no noise or smoke. The transmission shifts firmly and smoothly. Steering is smooth and tight, and the brakes are firm and strong. All gauges and lights work properly. Original AM radio works well.Items that have been replaced or refurbished:New Battery New 215/70/14 Tires New Heater Core Rebuilt Carburetor Rebuilt Alternator Replaced Rear Pinion Seal New Fuel Tank and Sending Unit Engine pressure-fed fresh oil prior to starting.Brake Fluid Flushed All mechanical systems fully inspected Items not addressed:Headliner cloth is separating as is common with these cars. It has been temporarily secured, but could be professionally re-covered to look like new.A/C is not charged. This would be a good opportunity to convert to newer refrigerant.Overall, it is fair to say that you would have a hard time finding a nicer, original car.
