1940 represented Ford's final year of vehicle production before turning over their factories for the war effort and the car that they produced in that year, became one of the most hot rodded cars of all time. Combining timeless design and Ford's coveted 221 ci Flathead V 8, the 1940 Deluxe Convertible was the most coveted of the cars they produced that year. This particular example has undergone a comprehensive nut-and-bolt restoration to bring it back to better than original condition. The entire chassis of the car was stripped back to bare metal and painted in gloss black and all of the suspension was rebuilt so it drives like new. The brake system was completely rebuilt and the 4-wheel drum brakes work as they should. The car rolls on a correct set of 16-inch steel wheels with chrome trim rings, Deluxe center caps and wide white wall tires.Under the hood, the Flathead V 8 was rebuilt with an eye towards an original look and includes correct componentry, colors and the finishes were carefully chosen to look as they did in 1940. Dual exhaust pipes are meticulously routed through the frame and out the back bumper and feature period correct exhaust deflectors.
