Taken in Px for my YB cosworth capri a few weeks ago. Genuine Mk1 Mexico Custom with a full mot. 2. 0 Pinto 5 speed type 9 box.
History.
Parked up in a garage since the late 90's when escorts were worthless until 3-4 years ago when this car had a overhall. welding and repaint. this was never a total basket case broken in half like some you see on here! it was a scruffy but basicly sollid mexico. The car is known to the AVO club back in around 1995-1997 (paper work with the car) it has all the correct Type 49 Mexico parts. Suspension stiffening. bolts in boot floor for the gravel gard. 6 dial dash. map light. anti tramp brackets. mexico wings (spot welded on drip rail but cant quite belive they could be original?) and the all important BFATNJ00**** Chassis number indicating a January 1973 Mexico Originaly registered with the DVLA as 1601cc but now having a 2. 0 Pinto fitted. the original registered car colour is Yellow but it has also been White primer all over in the 90's (never changed with the DVLA)
Bodywork.
The pictures make the car look Mint. its not unlike some sellers on here i wont lie and make out it is mint. its Tidy and looks spot on driving down the road but its not a concorse show winner. more of a tidy shiny daily driver that was what it was made for! has a few tiny dings and a couple of small rust bubbles this was painted around 3-4 years ago and the fact there are only a few bubbles says that it was not just ploped full of filler to sell! The underside has had some welding. its had sills. floor repairs and repars to the chassis legs. again done to a good solid standard but not Show standard. It has just been MOT'd and needed no welding.
Inside.
Scruffy but. all the bits are there appart from the Custom center console and wood trim ( it was binned by the last owner as he thought it was aftermarket :(  ) Map Light. Custom Roll top Recaro's. you can buy kits to recover the seats on ebay :) Speedo needs connecting. Rev counter needs a new capacitor as it jumps all over the place. every thing else works. windows. gauges. heater fan ect all good. Has no headlining in it as the original was shot to bits.
Mechanics.
2. 0 Pinto on a twin choke carb. 4 branch manifold. Alloy sump. Electric cooling fan. electronic ignition. 5 speed type 9 gear box. all runs and drives just as it should. no smoke or leaks. starts first time every time. Diff sounds a little loud to me but its been like that all the time i have known the car and it might just be where i am used to new quiet cars! Battery moved to the boot with cut off switch.
