There's a great deal that can be said about this special Mustang.  

 

The exciting new Sports Sprint Mustang made its debut to much fanfare. 

 

This model was ordered by a lady (school teacher) earlier that year.

 

The dealership that orchestrated the transaction was Town & Country Ford in Clayton, Mo. 

 

Although cherished it was basically used for routine commutes.

 

Thankfully (17 years later) when she decided to part ways with it a relative took over ownership.

 

He happened to be a collector so it was kept in pristine shape through the years.  

 

The original build sheet, stamped owner's manual, etc are still included!  

 

Lucky for me “decades later” he decided to thin the herd as well.   

 

I have been very fortunate to own such a vintage Ford.  

 

This one is truly different than most that are put on the market for mass consumption.

 

  

The factory lacquer paint was replaced with a new coat of 2019 SHELBY SHADOW BLACK Tri color enamel.

 

A hint of metallic was added so the exterior almost looks wet at any given time of day.

   

 

It is important to mention this vintage vehicle has only been repainted once.  

 

The consistency and contour of the exterior panels are very much noteworthy.

 

The overall presentation is in accordance with Ford assembly and tooling specifications.

 

Many attributes make the car a fan favorite (front to rear)!

 

There's a graceful black vinyl top that shields the roof (excellent condition)! 

 

A quintessential turn signal hood still functions on command once the lever is engaged.  

 

To further help enhance the chrome/black theme is a flawless set of factory OEM rocker panel moldings.  

 

Both bumpers look better than they did day one (simply flawless)!

 

A new set of Scott Drake tail light bezels enhance the rear concave area.   

 

The bright work and stainless trim appointments are very commendable. 

 

 

 

All of the windows, windshield and surrounding glass are clear / damage free.

 

The total picture & presentation brings a smile to almost every face!

Since we have covered the bases regarding the exterior let's see what she has to offer inside!

 

This Ford was released with what was coined “standard interior”.

Although subtle in nature it still comes across stately and elegant.

 

The factory medium saddle trim package really provides excellent contrast against the gloss black exterior!

 

All of the original upholstery has been restored including the seat backs. 

 

Once inside you will also find a perfect virgin dash pad and an ensemble of factory gauges.

 

Laying snug in between both buckets is an iconic upscale center console (front casing still properly illuminates)!

 

The original door panels look amazing and help to accentuate the interior.    

 

 

To top things off a signature set of coffee colored floor mats are in place to safeguard the mahogany carpet!

 

 

 

This Mustang is ready to be fully enjoyed!

 

 

 

Now once you say the word classic Mustang everyone wants to know “what's underneath the hood”!

 

NO MUSTANG CAN BE TRULY CONSIDERED A FREE RUNNING STALLION WITHOUT HAVING A FACTORY V/8!       

 

Thankfully Ford did not rest on their laurels when this one left the plant.

 

This factory Sprint Mustang came equipped with the C-Code 289 power plant.

 

If you desire a classic car that is fun to drive, powerful and reliable “look no further”!

 

This block has been overhauled to perform respond on command!

 

 

All internal performance parts have been refurbished and give the car complementary power.

 

A COMP X303 camshaft and SIR 5140 connecting rods were supplemented for easy acceleration.  

 

To help up the ante a rebuilt FOMOCO 600 CFM carburetor has been incorporated (with electric choke)!

 

Hardened valves seats have been installed so the vehicle can burn modern unleaded fuel “an important aspect that many fail to do”! No short cuts were taken. 

 

 

 

Preventative maintenance has been addressed religiously (recent parts include) plugs, 7MM wires, battery, thermostat, water pump, fuel pump, voltage regulator, etc.

 

An original but rare chrome Sprint air cleaner is in place for totally Nostalgia!
