1972 Buick Riviera Gran Sport

This is a 1972 Riviera GS project, the engine had a catastrophic failure, the block and crank were destroyed. The transmission and rear end are still in place. The factory sunroof is fully operating and works awesome. I repaired it a few years back and has a full set of replacement repair parts to go along with this car. The best part is of course the extremely rare factory sunroof!! Very rare option and it's a legit factory sunroof car and a real W in the vin GS! The interior is beautiful, seats , dash, headliner and package tray. Floor shifter is in great shape, the handle is not loose and spring has been adjusted properly. The transmission in place should be rebuilt, the posi rear should be serviced and fluid added. I drained it to show pictures that is the factory correct S spring 12 bolt posi. All gears are in beautiful shape, clutches all appear to be in good shape as well. Drive shaft has all new u joints, the 455 engine is not in place and not available, it was unrepairable cracked and mains were carved out by crankshaft that cracked. The accessories, pulleys and manifolds are in thy w trunk along with the carburetor. The iron intake was cracked on the bottom side and not useable. Paint and body are pretty nice , too is in very good shape and is the correct pebble grain. All documents come with the car, along with the manuals, Buick service manual , Sloan museum report. Has a clean registration in my name from the state of New York. I recently drove the car from Long Island , New York to South Carolina where I now reside. Has a new aluminum radiator, starter and Sears Die Hard Battery. Any questions please ask, if you wish to come see the Riviera I also welcome you to do so. Anyone who has the shop space and tools along with a 455 engine can easily enjoy this car to have fun with. The windows down and that huge sunroof open is a awesome drive no matter where you go! As an additional bonus to this car, I have a 1972 Riviera GS WA stamped engine block, came from the car ahead of this one off the line. The vin number on this Riviera GS ends in 24 the serial number on the block ends in 23. Honest to goodness that's a fact. With a new rotating assembly this car will be as close to original as you can get. Note the engine which had the failure I found not to be the original engine when I disassembled the engine upon removal. The pistons took a beating as well.

WA stamped 1972 Riviera GS engine block. This is in storage in Florida. Visiting for Thanksgiving and plan to pickup then so it all can be put together in the car.
