VANDEN PLAS PRINCESS 1300 AUSTIN MORRIS REALLY NICE EXAMPLE

 1972K Vanden Plas Princess 1300 manual. Harvest gold with olive green leather.
A really nice example. with free road tax to end of March. MOT (no advisories) to March 14th. showing 47000 miles recorded which can't be guaranteed but condition suggests it could be. The original handbook and service book are with the car plus a Tectyl Rustproofed certificate.
Body and paint:
Very sound bodyshell which over the years has had new sills. rear wheel arches and a few minor local repairs (none recently). Subframes in very good condition. Coated in waxoyl underneath. in the doors and inner wings. requiring no structural rectification and well protected for the future. In the photo link below there are various shots of sills. floorpan (some from inside the car with carpets removed). subframes and inner wings. Brake. petrol and hydrolastic pipes in good condition and covered in waxoyl. The car has had a colour change at some time from red. This has been a very comprehensive job as there are no signs anywhere of the original colour. An older respray that has retained a nice gloss with some imperfections which don't detract from the impression of a very smart and bright appearance.
Chromework is generally in very good condition.
Interior:
A very nice place to be! The leather seats benefiting from care over the years. minimal wear. lovely deep colour. soft and supple. Door trims also in excellent condition. Carpets very clean and nice condition. the  front footwell carpet having been replaced with non original. Headcloth very good other than some staining at the very rear at the base of the rear window pillars. The wood trim still has a deep gloss. no lifting of the lacquer just some typical and slight signs of bleaching. All instruments and controls operating as they should.
Mechanical:
When I got the car it ran well but had some oil smoke. I had a complete spare engine and gearbox unit that was removed from a very low mileage VP1300. This was stripped cleaned and inspected and was found to be in excellent condition. The cylinder head was de-coked. valves re-seated and rebuilt. the engine block rebuilt with (just as a precaution) new oil pump and Cooper S ball type oil pressure relief valve. The block and head were fitted to the original (very good) gearbox with all new gaskets and seals. The clutch had obviously recently been renewed so this was reused. The result is a nice driving. smooth and quiet gearbox/clutch and engine (with excellent oil pressure). The car comes with a spare engine and gearbox. The engine being the one I removed from the car. the gearbox being the spare low mileage one.
The suspension holds ride height and has that smooth ride quality. There is a very slight brake vibration which is improving with use of the car.
The exhaust manifold and system are in very good condition. All tyres are good.
Summary:
A really nice example of an increasingly rare car. It is a classic that can be used daily and is ready for many more years of pleasure.
