As to myself, I am a (71) year old kid that loves muscle cars. For my work, I am retired from managing a Correctional Facility here in Maine and had worked for the Maine Department of Corrections for (40) years. I am also a respected member of my community. I mention this only because of the value of this car and so that prospective buyers will have some idea as to who they are dealing with. Also, please check out my eBay feedback that is at 100% with (1,319) transactions. Many of my transactions have been muscle cars, which I have sold to individuals all over the country as well as Canada, England, France, Switzerland, Germany, Australia and the Netherlands. My reputation for honesty is well known amongst muscle car lovers.

Just some quick history on the C3 Corvettes (1968-1979)

Watergate. Gas shortages. Disco. Bell-bottoms. Okay, so maybe the Seventies wasn't America's finest hour. But things were rosy in Corvette-land. The curvaceous C3 models rolled through the decade — by 1977, Chevy had produced its 500,000th Corvette. A year later, the Vette marked its 25th anniversary by proudly pacing the Indy 500. Already as gorgeous as a movie starlet, the Corvette needed — and received — few styling changes in 1970. The fender flares grew a bit, and an egg-crate grille replaced the '69's horizontal blades. Under the hood, the big-block V-8 jumped from 427 cubic inches to 454. A new LT1 engine option offered 370 hp.

I have tons of photos including ID photos and a video for serious people. Just ask and I will send you links to both.

And now for my 1970 LS5 Corvette that I am selling here today. Prior to purchasing this Corvette, the previous owner stated that he had owned the Corvette for about 35 years and was selling only because he was hardly driving it. Mileage is at 88,033 but with no actual mileage documentation, I am selling the Corvette as mileage exempt.

This Corvette is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but it is a wicked nice example of an original drivetrain '70 big block model. Let's face it, there are only a small number of these cars out there for sale and how many of those actually have their original drive train? Try to find another 1970 Corvette LS5 4-speed with power steering and factory air at this price and you will see what I mean.

I know from previous experience that there is never too much information for the serious buyers. So, for all of you numbers people, this is for you.

Trim Tag

I do not have a Trim Tag and I will not purchase a reproduction one. However, while checking the 1970 Corvette Registry, I found this Corvette, by its vin number, and it was documented in the registry that the Corvette was originally (917) Monza Red with (418) vinyl Saddle interior. What appears to be the original door sticker has the build date as 7/70 or July 1970. The Corvette Registry has the Corvette's approximate birthday as July 24, 1970. This all looks good to me.

Exterior:     The “code 917” Monza Red Paint is considered driver quality only. The previous owner stated that he repainted the Corvette many years ago. The bumpers and bright work are also considered driver quality. The door handles and outside mirror are also driver quality. Side glass appears to be the original Astro Ventilation. I believe the rear pop-out window is also original. The windshield appears to be a replacement. The side glass and rear window have all been tinted. The driver's side outside mirror is there but can't be adjusted. Very good Cooper Cobra Radial GTs all around mounted to very nice Corvette Rally rims.

All exterior items work such as:

·        Head lights (Including the vacuum doors.);

·        Tail lights;

·        Brake lights;

·        Blinkers (front and rear);

·        Plate light;

·        Wipers (Including the vacuum door.);

·        Horn.

Interior:      The code “418” vinyl saddle interior is also considered driver quality but with no rips or tears noted. I did install all new saddle carpet. The dash has no cracks. All gauges are functional as well as the AM/FM non-original radio. The heater is working but the A/C is not. The car's A/C system still functions on R2 Freon and I do have 4 older but I believe usable, cans of Freon (see photo) that will go with the car. The passenger's courtesy light as well as the rear cargo light are both working. The driver's courtesy light is missing. Seat belts should be considered to be either missing or not functional. As to the three storage compartments behind the seats, I did not purchase new parts but did what I could to make them presentable. There is no jack assembly in the first storage area. There is no glove box liner insert in the center area. The battery appears fine in the last storage area. I have two sets of keys but they only work in the ignition and not in the doors.

All interior items work such as:

·        Speedometer; (Tested new cable with a drill and the speedometer does works. I installed a new cable but speedometer still does not work. I can only assume that it is an issue at the transmission end.)

·        Tachometer:

·        Fuel gauge;

·        Water temperature gauge:

·        Oil pressure gauge;

·        Battery gauge; (I think.)

·        Radio;

·        Heater;

·        Clock. (Yup, even the clock works.)

Engine/Tranny:    What can I say about the engine accept it's the biggest power train you could order in a Corvette in 1970. That would be a 454ci, 390 hp with 500 foot pounds of torque. The block does have the vin number stamped on the pad confirming it is original. I see the correct intake, heads, exhaust manifolds and A/C pump. The Corvette does have power steering. No smoking, leaks or funny noises are noted.

As to the 4-speed Muncie transmission, it does have the vin number stamped on it also confirming it is original. It shifts fine but does not synchro like a new 4-speed might.

Undercarriage;      There are no areas of concern that I can see. However, there is no spare and the spare storage cover does have an area that is broken. The dual exhaust system appears fine. Brakes are in good working order.

ID Photos:  Everything you want to see is here.

FYI:  I do not have a Maine title for this 1970 LS5 Corvette as Maine does not issue titles for vehicles that are more than (25) years old. I have sold cars all over the country as well as Canada, England, Switzerland, Germany and Australia and have never had a problem. The car will come with a Bill-of-Sale, the Maine Registration signed over to the new owner and a copy of the Maine law regarding titles.

I do have the previous owner's Florida Title if that helps.

THANKS FOR READING THIS AD. GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY BIDDING.
