A 1993 Ram D150 bought at a used car lot provided 95% of the parts
Entire drivetrain
Dash, instrument cluster, and A/C
Entire electrical system
Entire fuel system
Brakes/suspension/steering
The parts truck had 107,000 miles when it donated its life to this truck. The odometer (original to the parts truck) now shows 215,000 miles. I did not rebuild the engine but it doesn't leak or use excessive oil. Magnum engines live a very long life because they have fuel injection and roller camshaft.
Restoration finished 2006
Professionally appraised at $46,500 in 2007 (BEFORE the sunroof, stereo, and custom instrument cluster was added)
Featured in Custom Classic Trucks magazine Nov. 2006 (article still on motortrend.com)
Entered in several car shows - took first place at Chryslers at Carlisle
Been on Hot Rod Power Tour twice
Daily driven in NC from 2005 to 2020
I've hauled a 1969 Charger on a 2000 lb trailer (6000 lbs total) with no issues
I'm selling this truck because I'm retired now and don't have a place to keep it. I also haven't had much occasion to drive it since the start of the pandemic. It needs to go to a new owner that can give it the love it's had since I originally built it. The truck has been well cared for but because it's been a daily driver and used like a truck for the last 16 years it's starting to show its age. The hood needs to be re-cleared along with the top edge of one side of the bed and the paint is chipped all across the top edge of the tailgate. I would consider this normal wear and tear for a 16 year street driven truck. It was in a minor fender bender in 2016. The right fender and grille were replaced and the front bumper had to be repaired. There are some minor rust and paint problems that should be addressed to get it back to “show” condition. These are shown in pictures. There is no rust in the floors and the truck is still very solid since it's lived its whole life in NC. The paint still looks amazing. There's probably a bunch of details I've forgotten because it's been 16 years since I finished the restoration. Feel free to ask any questions. I'll answer them to the best of my memory.
Cummins guys! This would be an easy diesel swap...
The transmission is the same 5-speed manual used in Dodge diesel trucks starting in 1994. Keep the 5 lug brakes and 9.25 axle if you just want to “roll coal” and haul a single car trailer or swap back to 8-lug spindle/rotor/caliper (this was originally a 3/4 ton truck) and a bigger rear axle to haul more. The suspension can be easily returned to stock height.
This auction may end early if the truck is sold locally.
