This rare 1970 early basic model 914 1.7 with removable hardtop was imported from California in 2016. Since then it has had light restoration- rust spots eliminated (including the notorious area under the battery) and new sills with new European headlights and taillights fitted. Most importantly a replacement ECU for the fuel injection has been fitted and a seperately operated fuel pump. The car was resprayed Guards Red at some point mileage is not held out as accurate . A very tidy well-preserved interior with radio, the engine probably needs a tune up but runs and drives readily and eagerly. The air cooled engine-of course a close relation of the "Beetle" engine- is tough and durable. No radiators/thermostats/fanbelts/pipes/water pumps/head gaskets to go wrong ! Tax and ULEZ free , the car is MOT-exempt but has had an MOT in 2019 and garaged and hardly driven since. Car has some minor dings and scratches and a couple of paint bubbles consistent with its 51 years. Inspection of the car is invited before committing to bid or purchase. Sale is to finance other restorations. A sound, original and rare Porsche.
