Classic 1972 Mercedes SL350 V8 Auto MOT & TAX Exempt - Barn Find - Project car.

Stunning and highly sought after classic car the R107 - Early Model - Tax & Mot exempt!

It has a V8 petrol engine and automatic gearbox (condition of both unknown)

I acquired it before the pandemic from a collector, who sadly passed away and had it stored in one of his barns/sheds. The car is now in my name and I have a new DVLA log book for it , ready to be transferred to the new owner.

Initially, I planned to restore it myself , but unfortunately just don't have the time.

Since finding it, all i've done is clean it, cover it with a Mercedes SL all weather cover and tarpaulin and stored it in another barn (as shown in images). Now I'm selling it, i've replaced all four tyres with brand new replacements, as the originals had perished.

Please be aware, this car is a 'Non-Runner'. I don't know what would need doing to the engine to get it running .

Everything in the engine bay looks to be all there and in reasonable cosmetic condition, but again please bear in mind that it will need professional renovation to make it road worthy. It has sat idle for the last 12 years.

This will also be the case for many other components of the car - brakes, etc, etc.

The car has had a respray at some point in its life, which has now started to bubble in places. There is some serious rusting to the drivers side floor pan at the front, which is common on these early models, but importantly, the bulkhead is sound.

A serious buyer would probably want to inspect it first - this I would recommend and you'd be most welcome.

The car has a hard top fitted, as shown. I haven't been able to remove the hard top to investigate the soft top, but I was assured it is in working order.

This is an easy task for anyone in the know but I was reluctant to make a mistake and damage the body work. I do however have a brand new stand for the roof, which will be included in the sale.

Important:

The speedometer shows the mileage to be 46,000 miles, which is one of the reasons I purchased it in the first place.

Unfortunately, there was no paperwork with the vehicle, as the previous owner had sadly deceased and his wife had no idea where they had been placed. It has had 6 owners, so please do not assume this is the correct mileage.

The spare wheel and tools are also missing for some unknown reason. Apparently, the previous owner was a bit of a collector and might have ‘Borrowed' these for one of his other classics.

I also have just the one original ignition key and a key for an alarm, which is fitted to the rear offside quarter panel.

The car is almost 50 years old, so no Road Tax or MOT, which are very beneficial too.

The photos of the car probably flatter it slightly - it has just had a good clean removing the dust and cobwebs.

If you can, please zoom in on the images to see the bubbling on the wheel arches and boot lid.

There is also some bubbling on each side of the bonnet edges, but this seems to be only on the surfaces, as the underside is sound.

Extremely Important:

This is a Private Sale. Please, please do not bid or buy if you don't intend to honour it - it's a waste of everyone's time and that includes other bidders wanting the car.

I have had to re-list this car because the previous winning bidder did not have the funds and asked if he could pay with a credit card..... Very Disappointing!

Once you have bought the car - it's down to you to arrange a car transporter and collect it.  It will need to be collected using a transporter with a winch!

I expect a £500 deposit within 24hrs of the auction end and full payment for the car by cash or bank transfer prior to collection of the vehicle.

If paid by bank transfer, the funds must clear before you collect the vehicle. Payment and collection must be done within 5 days from auction end.

This is a good honest sale and I expect to be treated in the same manner, Thank you.

I have set a reserve, of which I think an appropriate price for this classic, as I don't wish this to go for a song. I also paid 'a lot' more than my reserve price, but that one we'll leave for another day!

Thank you for your interest.
