1967 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu

Like the Tri-Five Chevys that came before it, the Chevelle/Malibu is one of those cars GM aced right out of the gate and continued to perfect. Eventually, the marque became one of the strongest brands in automotive history; and at one point, with a full list of body styles, options, trim grades, color combinations, and engines which ranged from mild to outrageous, literally embodied the 'custom built' nature that defines the muscle car era.

For consignment, purchased new right up the road at Hoover Motors in scenic Wernersville, Pennsylvania and owned by the purchaser and his son until 2020, we give you a Chevrolet Malibu from 1967. Consigner states that this is the original 283ci engine and Powerglide transmission, along with the original interior other than the floor mats, mostly original paint, original vinyl top and 52,405 original miles, although the title reads exempt due to age. All buttoned up in a well preserved light green and fawn package and ready for you to enjoy.

ExteriorMostly original Mountain Green paint with only a few minor touch ups over the years covers all the sheet metal this car was born with. Nicely preserved chrome and trim very shiny and mirror-like is noted on the bumpers and all trim is present and accounted for. The deep B pillars frame the trunk and the rear window which is clean and rust free. On the rear of this car are corner wrap-around taillights that have a Mountain Green panel in between them which floats above the bumper. 4 steel wheels with Chevrolet wheel covers are on all 4 corners and are wrapped in thin white wall tires.

InteriorA swing of the door and we are met with a gold vinyl door panel fashioned with a horizontal tuck and roll pattern, a small arm rest and a chrome window crank and handle. A long gold split bench glides between the steel doors, in the original cloth and vinyl which is showing no tears or excessive wear. The rear bench follows suit in material but does have some soiling on the left side of the upholstery. An original GM inverted V style dash is up front and has the speedometer, fuel gauge, and clock inserted in an area with wood applique' above, and gold metal below. The original AM radio sits in the middle of the dash above the heater control which leads back to a restored and detailed heater box. Clean gold carpeting covers the floors and is protected by non-original rubber floor mats while a gold headliner hangs tightly above.

DrivetrainA correct and original 283ci V8 is within a nicely detailed engine bay. Complete with orange Chevrolet block and heads and topped with a 2bbl carburetor this mill is looking almost as good as the day it was built. A recent tune up was done on the engine along with a new battery, oil change and a HEI ignition installed. On the back is a correct Powerglide 2-speed automatic transmission and a 10-bolt rear axle with a CE coded 3.08 positraction unit rounds out the drivetrain department.

UndercarriageA solid steel frame gives the backbone to the rust-free floors, all of which showing with surface rust, undercoating and black paint. Independent coil springs are on the front and a 4 link with coil springs round out the suspension. Drum brakes are noted on all 4 corners as is power steering to make driving a breeze. A single exhaust system with a stock style muffler sends spent fossils to the rear of the car.

Drive-AbilityThis car started quickly and ran nicely. All functions worked well, and it has great acceleration and handling. The interior had plenty of room, was definitely comfortable and was a trip back in time with all the originality.
