We are continuing to downsize our hobby car collection and have decided to sell our 1967 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight LS. We bought the car from the original owner in summer of 2001. The car was purchased new from L and M Motors in Blue Earth, Minnesota by the director of a funeral home. During the late 60s, through the 70s the car was used in Mesa, Arizona where it sounded like the family spent winters. Sometime in the mid-to-late 1980s the car was brought back to Minnesota and was utilized as a an relief family car for larger funerals. It was during this time that the car was painted a slightly darker shade of Firemist gold to match the rest of the funeral parlor hearses and family cars. The car was always garaged whether in Arizona or in Minnesota, and we later stored it a barn for several years. The interior of the car, chrome, glass and the vinyl roof of the car is very nice, with no pitting or tears. Mechanically, the car is very sound. It always started easy with no rattles or smoke on cold start up. Admittedly, and much to our shame (we love our cars), we let the car set for around 7 years and when we pulled it out of it's long slumber in the barn, we had a fair amount of work done to the car to rectify the years of non-use. We drained and refurbished the fuel tank, the brake system was gone through, including a new master cylinder, new wheel cylinders and brake hoses--shoes were fine. We also put in a new sending unit and replaced the fuel pump. While we were at it, we put in a new alternator and voltage regulator. The car has new whitewall tires on it. Much to our chagrin, the years on the dirt floor barn contributed to a few rust bubbles that are starting to form in the corners of wheel wells and fenders. (I think the door bottoms are still solid) The frame, while scaly, is solid, as are the floor pans. The paint on the flat surfaces of the car are checking pretty badly and nearly impossible to bring to a shine now. Probably close to a decade ago, we had the car home for the weekend to drive and a local ne'er-do-well decided to pour brake fluid to the top of the driver's rear quarter (pictured) and to a lesser extent, some on the driver's fender, which took the finish down to bare metal on those spots. Funnily enough while the lower rocker chrome is getting tough, as mentioned, the rest of the chrome trim and bumpers are intact and not pitted. There's zero rust bubbling under the top and around the rear window. We've been driving the car this summer and fall and can report that all options still work (not sure about the clock). The Luxury Sedan trim added some unique options and this car has functional Comfortron 4 seasons climate control and a functional electric front seat with the optional "Strato" head rests. Also somewhat unique on an Oldsmobile, the car was equipped with tilt AND telescopic positioning steering--the latter typically being seen on higher end Cadillacs. Inside, the car still has the original floor mats and trunk mats, and the rear vanity dispenser still has tissues and cigarettes in it, although to our knowledge, it was never smoked in. The motor in the car is the top of the range high compression 425 V8 with a Turbo-Hydramatic 400 transmission. As mentioned, we have driven it this summer and fall and haven't noticed any oil use or spots on the driveway. If you're looking for a good running, perfectly acceptable "driver" big Olds with seldom seen LS trim Ninety-Eight, want one to bring back to former glory, or if you want a good starter hobby car, this might be the one for you! Please private us for questions. I will be glad to text videos of the car running! Thanks for looking. PS: Still has the books and original Protect-o-Plate warranty booklet.

Please send us a message if you are bidding and have only a handful of previous purchases. We once listed a Mercedes SL and had a fraudulent buyer jump in at the last minute who had no buying history was basically "sniped" other serious buyers just as a pest. We reserve the right to cancel bids if you have little buyer history and have not reached out to us about your ability to purchase the car. We are more than happy to talk by phone once we establish interest through messenger. Best regards.
