Vehicle Details

1988 Porsche 924 S. I have owned this car for about four years. I was planning on never selling it, but current circumstances dictate that it has to be sold. This is a relatively rare 1988 model of the 924 S, the last year that Porsche produced the 924 body style with the 944 driveline. This also a two owner car, as shown in the Auto Check. I bought the car from the original owner, who had purchased it new in Oklahoma. The 1988 version of the 924 S has a slightly higher compression engine with a little more horsepower than the previous years.Exterior: This 924 S was painted in Maraschino Red metallic from the factory, a nice change from the more common red, white, black or silver that most 924 s were painted. Car has no dents, but does have some minor hail damage on the roof and hood which is shown in the pictures. In addition the front hood will need to be repainted. From what I can tell, the previous owner had the hood repainted at some point, and the repaint has begun to peel, as shown in the photos. The front of the car has rock chips as well. I was going to have the hood, bumper, front valance and front edges of the fenders painted and then blended into the rest of the factory original paint. I want to be clear about the paint on the car. With the exception of the hood, the paint is factory and there is no reason why the entire car would need to be repainted. It would be far better to paint the hood and other areas described above and retain the majority of the original paint, which is in nice shape, with a few minor paint chips and scratches. All of the glass is in clean shape. The key does not open the rear hatch, but the electric release button in the interior works great, so it never bothered me.Interior: The interior is the original beige color. This car was specified with extremely comfortable factory Sport seats. I have never seen another 924 S equipped with these seats. They are in good shape with some minor stains. In addition the outer bolster of the driver's seat is slightly collapsed and the fabric has a small area that is wearing through. The shift boot and shift knob are in excellent condition, but the bracket that holds the shift boot in place is missing, so the boot doesn't sit flush. This is an easy part to source from 944 Online. Has the original Blaupunkt stereo that works. However the speakers have a bad connection, so the sound can come in and out. I was going to upgrade the speakers and keep the original stereo but never got around to it. Carpeting, door panels, head liner, back seats are all in good condition. The carpet in the rear hatch area though has been dried out by the New Mexico sun. One of the steering wheel center pad mounting brackets is cracked and the trim can come off if you accidentally tug on it. I ran a MOMO on it most of the time. There are minor cracks on the dash.Wheels and tires: Has the original 15-inch phone dials with older tires that could be replaced, but they have lots of tread. Wheels are in good shape Mechanically: This 924 drives good, has good power and cruises nicely on the freeway. The engine runs great and is smooth. The car has developed a vibration around 3,000-rpm that I never got around to diagnosing. The clutch, shifter and brakes all operate nicely. This car was not abused by me or the prior owner and it shows. I just recently completed the timing belt and water pump service.Below is the work I have done on the car since purchasing it.New hood release lever and bracket New hood shocks New hatch shocks New hatch receiver pins New engine mounts New oil New coolant New timing belt New water pump New thermostat Please do not bid if you are not a serious buyer. You can call me at

if you would like to discuss any particulars about the car or anything I forgot to mention above. I am also open to a PPI, as long as it is set up well in advance of the auction ending. I will gladly help with getting the car loaded and meeting a transporter for shipping. However, shipping is completely up to the owner to arrange and pay for. Images
