Here we have the reluctant sale of my wonderful Alfasud.I have owned it for approx. 4 years and as much as I want to keep it, have it as a classic daily driver and later as a project to restore to concourse, I really no longer have the space or the time, with too many other project hobbies and family time to consider. I will have to regret it later. This Sud is the Series 1 coupe version with all the chrome trims and nice twin headlamps and 2 door. The interior and engine is all original. It is also in one of the best colours in the original posillipo blue.I did advertise it last year and then another Covid lockdown hit us, so whilst it received a great deal of interest, both Covid and timing meant that many inspections were near impossible to arrange and basically it was just not the right time. Now that the season is here and restriction has lifted it is a better time to advertise again. Thank you to all those who wrote to me and were very interested. As expected there is a real following with these, more than I realised once word got around and probably as quite a few had these as their first car or remember them fondly and you very rarely see them at the Classic car shows, maybe as they are getting rarer and rarer (not rusting away) or hidden away in collections somewhere. I had previous owners contact me and even someone who thought their father's dealership or one they knew locally may have been the first to register this car. It was quite amazing really and made it even more difficult to think of selling it. Anyway...Ok, so the car was owned previously by an AROC (Alfa Romeo Owners Club) member, who was very nice and explained that the previous owner to him had lost the history but that the car was quite original and that the mileage was thought to be true. I cannot guarantee this so am only passing on what was advised to me. He kept the car running perfectly and I have done nothing to it but it starts without any problems and runs really well with that beautiful throaty exhaust sound. It has been kept garaged but now other content is taking the priority of the space also means it has to go.The car is registered now as an Historic Vehicle so there is no road tax to pay to have this on the road as your daily driver and there is no requirement for an MOT either; classic car insurance is approx. £100 per annum, so very cheap to run in terms of annual expense. The condition is not a basket case, as many are out there, rusted through and selling at £5-6k, but neither is it is concourse, I saw another on ebay recently at £19k and that did not look that much different to mine, so I do recommend a full inspection as it will likely need a full service and the bodywork as expected is showing some arch and door bottom corrosion. I am not a mechanic or a car restorer and as everyone has different expectations I have to advise on these points as best I can. There are some areas of bubbling in the paint so would need some work. It could have I have suppose £1k on areas in isolation to keep going happily as a daily driver or you could take it back and do a part or full restoration. It is a great car and with reasonable spend would be such fun to own.It is being sold as seen with no warranty offered or implied, I welcome any inspection, but if bought via an ebay bid without inspection then there will be no returns accepted as I have declared that it will need servicing and some bodywork restoration etc to be as fair and honest as I can.No tyre kickers please, as it is likely the people interested in this already know these better than me, as avid fans, previous owners, restorers etc. As this is not a basket case, nor is it being advertised at £19k, I am looking for a fair and reasonable offer for both its current condition and rarity, but please no silly offers.Thank you for your interest.
