The 1962 Dodge 2-door Dart was a “between” car with a 1-year-only "B" body style. A full-size model in 1961 and "A" body compact in 1963. Chrysler downsized their full-size cars for 1962 to match a new compact class they wrongly assumed Chevy was building.

Consequently, Chrysler found themselves in a conundrum as Chevy delayed production. However, one positive by-product was a lighter non-perimeter frame or "unibody" car.

Drag racers deemed the car to be an ideal and capable drag car, as driven by famed racer Ron Farmer, among many others.

With a more rigid body construction with center "B" pillars; these cars were among  Mopar's factory drag car program with a 413 or 426 Max Wedge V8 and dual 4 barrel carbureted Cross Ram intake, and were among the fastest MOPAR's in the early 1960's.
