Description 1977 Ford Mustang II Mach 1 Restomod • California car until 2014 then it went to arid Arizona • Only 19,832 actual miles and sold on a Arizona actual mileage title • Fully built Ford Racing 302 CID V-8 roller engine with custom parts and more • Fully built C 4 three-speed automatic transmission with special parts and 3.54 gearing • Medium Gold Metallic (code 6 V) and white-gold vinyl interior (code A 8) • Power steering and power brakes • Rebuilt suspension • Mostly original interior, except for the carpet and front seat covers This is probably one of the finest remaining Ford Mustang II Mach Is (VIN code 05) in existence. This is a born-and-bred Southwest car that has been in Arizona since 2014 and California prior since new. With only 19,832 actual miles and sold on a Arizona actual mileage title. This example was originally built in Ford's San Jose, California factory (VIN code R) in December 1976 and sold new on January 5, 1977, in Los Angeles, where it remained with its original owner until 2014, when it was purchased by the second owner and brought to Arizona. Dressed in Medium Gold Metallic (code 6 V) The car still has most of its original paint, except for its left fender, door and quarter-panel, which received new paint in the ‘90 s. The car's bodywork is straight and solid, the body-colored bumpers fit tightly to the body, the battery is in good order and the engine bay is exceptionally tidy. This pony rolls on Kumho Power Star radials, size 165/80 R 15 in front and Mickey Thompson racing tires, size 26 x 10.50/15 in back. Each tire is mounted on a Centerline Drag Lite wheel. The wheels are in excellent condition while the tires are in very good order. The suspension has been rebuilt with new, two-inch drop axles in the front and de-arched springs in the back. The wheels are in excellent shape while the tires are in very good order. After the car was purchased by the second owner, the car received a completely new powertrain - a fully built, Ford racing 302 CID eight-cylinder roller engine with all-new forged internals - aluminum heads, aluminum intake, E 303 camshaft, COMP roller rockers, a Holley 1850 carburetor and a MSD distributor. The engine exhaust runs through a set of Headman headers into a custom three-inch single Flowmaster muffler with dual outlets and stainless-steel tips. This motor is bolted to a fully built C 4 three-speed automatic transmission with red band clutches, Winters reverse manual valve body, deep-dish aluminum pan and a B&M 2600 rpm stall converter. The differential has 3.54 gearing with a mini spool locker and Currie axles. Driver convenience features include power steering and power brakes. The white-gold interior (code A 8) is nearly all original, except for the carpet and front seats covers, which have been replaced. The front buckets and rear bench seats look great and contrast well with the body paint. The gold carpet is in very good order while the original white headliner stands in contrast. A Mach I three-spoke steering wheel sets off the gold instrument panel with dual Auto Meter tachometer, one in the dash and one hood-mounted to check revs while at speed but the horn is inoperable. A floor-mounted shift lever and factory AM/FM stereo round out the interior. Competition to this Mustang in 1977 included AMC's Hornet, Buick's Skyhawk, Chevrolet's Monza, Datsun's 240 Z, Dodge's Colt, Ford's own Capri, Ford's Maverick, Mercury's Comet, Oldsmobile's Starfire, Pontiac's Sunbird and Toyota's Celica. This is a rare opportunity to own a Malaise-era Mustang that drives and accelerates unlike any Malaise-era Mustang.
