The DB6 was launched at the London Motor Show in 1965. following
on from the highly successful DB5 immortalised by the 1964 James
Bond film 'Goldfinger'. The front end of the DB6 was visually
similar to the DB5 but closer inspection revealed quite a different
car. The wheelbase was lengthened allowing additional passenger
space in the rear along with a raised roof line. The profile of the
rear quarter lights echoed those of the DB4GT Zagato. a styling
theme that continued through to the DBS and V8 models until
production finished in 1990. Both front and rear bumpers were split
into two pieces and the rear of the car was re-styled with a Kamm
tail which helped reduce aerodynamic drag and gave the car more
stability at speed. The engine remained the same as the DB5 unit. a
3995cc twin overhead cam. straight six with triple SU carburettors
producing a claimed 282bhp.

This righthand drive automatic DB6 Mk. I coupé is finished in
Silver Birch coachwork with a deep red leather interior and fitted
with a full length Webasto sunroof. together with power assisted
steering. The car was the subject of a partial restoration in 2001
when the engine was rebuilt and converted to run on unleaded fuel
by hugely respected engineer. John Etheridge. At the same time. the
car was sent to Car Care Works where the body was repaired
including the replacement of the sills and a repaint in Silver
Birch. supporting invoices for which are in the history file. NAN
507D is fitted with inertia reel seat-belts and is described by the
vendor as being both easy and delightful to drive. Supplied with a
V5 registration document. together with a full year's MoT test
certificate. she sits proudly on chrome wire wheels. the gleaming
coachwork in excellent order and the interior offers a splendid
patina combining to make this a delightful example. As ever. the
secret to this car's success lays in the Aston Martin tradition of
a sublime design with no extraneous embellishment.
