1933 Ford Coupe

There are few better summer treats than a delicious Root Beer Float. Have you ever wondered how the summertime delicacy came to be? You can thank Frank. J. Wisner, owner of Colorado's Cripple Creek Brewing, who created the first root beer float on August 19, 1893. The once-in-a-lifetime idea was born when Wisner noticed that the snowy peaks on Colorado's Cow Mountain looked like ice cream floating in soda. The very next day, (Aug. 19, 1893), he combined root beer and vanilla ice cream, creating what he called the "Black Cow". Of course, nowadays it's known as the root beer float.

For consignment we have a fiberglass Outlaw bodied 1933 Ford Coupe hot rod. Its bathed in Root Beer Brown, not unlike the treat you will have when you pull this baby into the drive in to turn heads and get cooled off. Some fancy upgrades, (electric doors and trunk), and a powerful 355ci V8 with a blower to snap your neck. This beautiful custom hot rod build is a stunner, and even sweeter than its paint color namesake!

ExteriorThink about having all that '33 Henry Ford style and curvaceous, Rubenesque, voluptuous, shapely body formed out of never rust maintenance free fiberglass. DONE! Now let's bathe it in root beer brown, add in some thin vertical bar shield styled grille, round head lighting on either side, and just outside of the cowled hood cascading fenders and running boards that look like a thrilling roller coaster at Hershey Park, and framing 15-inch polished torque thrust 5 spoke wheels which add some whipped cream to this sweet treat rodder. A chopped top, suicide electric doors, side hanging chromed mirrors on stalks, and teardrop taillights, and now I'm ready to slurp this car up with a wide straw. Highlighting the root beer brown, are some hand painted pinstripe flourishes in gold and a beach scene on the rear roll pan. The front of this car with its V shaped design and up turning fenders is like it's doing its own tango. Suh-Weet!

InteriorA press of a button, and immediately the suicide doors open to the aft, and we are not in the Ford factory territory anymore. It's all custom with a mix of suede insert panels in tan, and smooth golden tan outers along with a smidge of deep maroon strips for some accenting on the doors. Inside the hits just keep on comin' with more smooth golden tan outers looking sufficiently overstuffed, and tan suede inserts with more of the maroon highlighting, this time in V form on the seats and backs. A long Lokar shifter reaches for the driver, and it sits in a custom console with cupholders and window toggles. This console rises up to greet the underside of the dash. In this leather panel is a digital voltmeter. After eventually rising to the dash a crescendo of gold bezel white face gauges from VDO instruments which run across the now leather covered smooth golden tan padded dash. Fronting the dash is a leather covered modern styled banjo rally wheel complete with shiny spokes inside the wheel and sitting upon a chromed tilt column. Brown carpeting floods the floors and has several layers of protection on top just to be sure it's kept clean. Above is a ream of more suede for the headliner.

DrivetrainUnder the hood the builder has taken liberties with a 355ci V8, chromed and cast B&M 144 Supercharger on top with a 750cfm Holley carburetor in 4-barrel format. A TH350 3-speed automatic with a 2500rpm stall converter in on back, and power pushes rearward to a 3.73 Corvette rear axle. Exhaling is through pristine headers as the engine just gleams in the root beer brown engine bay which is as freshly painted as the exterior.

UndercarriagePolished stainless steel exhaust piping and mufflers are underneath in a deep root beer and black framed environment. Bring a mirror to the shows because you are going to want the public to ohhhhh and ahhhh over this undercarriage. With front independent suspension with coil overs, and in back C4 Corvette suspension helps carve the curves. Disc brakes for the front, and drums are now on the rear and are hydraulic.

Drive-AbilityA turn of the key and she fires up with a mighty roar, and it warms up to begin to let loose some of those pent up horses under that cowled hood. And indeed, it does with snappy acceleration, seemingly endless speed building, and then great brakes that provide a bias free stop in little time. The transmission shifts beautifully, and functionality is all spot on. How now brown cow?

Talk about a custom Hot Rod that anyone would be proud to have in their driveway, and all without that pesky steel denting, rusting and deteriorating over time. Yup, all fiberglass and all you have to worry about is keeping the dust off of her. Shout for my soda jerk and belly up to the counter here is a truly killer float, for your boat!
