This BMW E21 is in fantastic original un-modified condition. It was first registered on the 18th August 1981 and so is now over 40 years old and will be Tax & MOT exempt. It is presented in Kashmir, (Gold) metallic paint with brown trim, including seats, door panels, carpets etc, the dashboard etc is in black. It has white headlining.I have owned the car for nearly 3 years and used it for days out, car shows etc. However as I also have a Porsche Macan which I use regularly and have just bought a 1968 Ford Mustang which I intend to use for shows etc during the summer. I also have a few other cars & motorcycles and have other hobbies including scuba diving and shooting. With all this and work / family commitments, I am just not using the E21 as much as I would like to and so have decided it's time to sell and let someone new enjoy it. this is the reason for listing it for sale. I will also be selling another car and a few bikes for the same reasons, (Too many toys, not enough time!).The car has the fantastic 2000cc straight six engine and 3 speed automatic transmission. Disc front brakes, drum rear brakes. It has all the original handbooks, keys etc. The car has a stamped service book from new up unto 04/08/95 @ 64723 Miles. The car was first delivered an employee of Shell international petroleum Ltd as a company car.The owner bought the car for Shell at the end of his company car period. He then kept the car as a second weekend car for many years until he passed away in 1995, the car then passed onto his son who used the car now and then until his job took him to the middle East in 1996, the car was then stored in a dry garage until sold in 2017. The new owner then sensibly recommissioned the car at a cost of £1729.00The recommissioning work included and was carried out 13/10/2017.New oil & filter, replace brake fluid, new timing belt & adjuster, thermostat, new radiator, flush and renew coolant, brake pads and shoes, battery, clean fuel tank, new spark plugs, new tyres, new headlamp. The invoice for all this work is present. The car was then sold to the man that I bought it from, He also had further work carried out, including,New front brake discs and pads, replace suspension bushes, oil and filter changed. This work was carried out 04/12/18 @ 72093 Miles and cost £ 991.05  I will describe the car accurately as follows;Bodywork and paint. The car's bodywork and underside is totally original, it is all solid with no serious corrosion, there is no filler anywhere on the car, it's never been welded and is all original. It recently passed an advisory free MOT and the MOT inspector was amazed at the cars originality and condition. The Kashmir metallic paintwork is also in fantastic condition, there are some very minor marks the wheel arch returns have suffered a bit of road rash and there are a few very minor scratches here and there, I have decided to not do anything with the paintwork as I feel it would be a shame to paint any area's however the wheel arch returns could be painted without it being a big job. All the trim pieces are literally in almost as new condition, the rubber window seals are perfect, the bumpers are superb and the brightwork around the windows is excellent and has never been removed. All in all, considering the car is 40 years old, it is in fantastic condition, it gets many fantastic comments at classic car shows.Interior.The interior of the car is mint, the seats have no wear at all, carpets are excellent and protected by over-mats. The door cards, which have never been removed as far as I can tell!, dashboard, (no cracks) etc are in lovely condition. The sunroof opens, closes and tilts as it should and the operating handle is as new and clips into position as it should. All switches, buttons etc are excellent with no marks and everything works except the electric mirror adjustment. In summary the interior would easily pass as a few years old rather than 40 years!Engine & transmission. The engine is in excellent condition, it has always been warmed up properly and driven as soon as started. It starts easily with no smoke on starting, sound great, uses very little oil and is very smooth and powerful. It pulls through the gears very quickly, sounds fantastic and is lovely to drive. The  transmission is excellent and operate smoothly with gearshifts being very smooth. The engine and driveline are in excellent condition as should be expected, considering the low mileage and full service history.Suspension & Steering. The suspension is in perfect order, there are no clunks, knocks, vibrations or any other issues. The steering is also in perfect condition and although not power assisted it is very light once the car is above walking speed.Brakes, Wheels & tyres. The brakes as expected are very good I recently replaced the front discs with brand new ones, the brakes operate exactly as they should should, stop the car quickly and do not pull to one side whatsoever. The 13 inch Alpina classic wheels which were an expensive option are in excellent condition, the tyres are matching Firestone Lights, lenses and Glass. All lights are in good condition and operate correctly, The lenses are also good. All windows are in perfect condition as are the rubber seals.Electrical equipment. All electrical items operate exactly as they should including the digital clock! with the exception of the door mirror adjustment, this doesn't operate, I suspect that the wiring may be damaged where it enters the door, as the mirrors still adjust manually, this hasn't bothered me. The headlight wipers work but don't park correctly, I suspect some adjustment would fix this if it bothers you.The Drive. The car starts easily, doesn't rattle or knock, doesn't produce any smoke. It idles perfectly from cold. The car selects it's gears perfectly. It drives with no rattles in the cabin. It really does drive like new, it tracks straight, does not wander and will cruise on the motorway at 80mph happily. It is a pleasure to drive and makes a realise how good these cars were in period. To even see a BMW in 1981 would have been quite a rare sight! In Summary. This is an opportunity to buy one of the best E21's available it is in a lovely colour combination, it looks superb, drives like new, has a wonderful interior and good service history.Whoever buys this car will enjoy it for every trip. It's perfect for taking to classic car shows and gets great comments wherever it goes. If I had a storage facility I would keep it.It's definitely an appreciating asset and better than money in the bank.It really is fantastic. Please let me know if you would like any further information, or if you would like to come and view the car.It is kept at my home and I'm available most of the time for viewings.I would prefer payment by bank transfer, PLEASE NO PAYPAL, I have had terrible trouble with it.Thanks for viewing the advert.Regards Brian 07934 412442.
