1954 MG TF Midget 1250 (Built 20/09/1954)

This is a ‘matching numbers' UK example with great history and a stack of documentation, including the original ‘operation manual'.

This car has a great history, and is presented with the desirable wire wheels (including spare) and chrome luggage rack.

In its life time, this car has benefitted from a full nut and bolt restoration by MG specialist Terry Bone in the late 1980s, with detailed invoices of a new tub, front and rear wings, doors and both front and rear valances - these remain in very good condition. Around this time it was also resprayed to Austin ‘White Diamond' paint, a beautiful colour that compliments the shape of the car greatly. The bodywork remains in good condition, and is consistent with the age of the paint - however it is not concourse.

The stack of invoices from MG specialists Toulmin Motors, Naylor Brothers, and Brown & Gammons (amongst others) also includes evidence of a reupholstery kit in 1986 to black leather. The leather remains in good condition, and has a pleasing patina, along with the body coloured dashboard.

At the turn of the century, the car had a complete and comprehensive engine rebuild at Steve Baker MG specialist, at a cost of over £3000. Detailed invoices of the rebuild are available upon request.

A year later, it also received the popular 5 speed gearbox conversion, again at Steve Barker's workshop.  The original 4 speed transmission and prop shaft are retained, and will be supplied with the car.

The current owner bought the car in 2006, after it had spent several years sunning it in the South of France, with a multitude of receipts detailing parts sent over to France from UK MG specialists.

Since then, the car has only been driven on dry summer days, and maintained by Ian Henderson of Alston - with a service prior to sale.

The reason for sale is that the current owner does not have time to use and enjoy the car as it should be, and he wishes for it to find a new life where someone will use it more.

Despite not being concourse condition, this example is a great condition useable classic, to be enjoyed and driven. It would also benefit from a set of new tyres at some point.

Additional photos and scans of invoices are available upon request.

Offers welcome.
