The Porsche 911 Turbo (or 930) was the longest-running body style of all the Turbos. However, the majority of buyers are drawn to the last model year in colors other than the traditional red, white, or black. More and more enthusiasts are beginning to see not only what wonderful cars these are to drive, but how important they are to the history of the 911. 930s were built from 1975 to 1989. The last year was a shorter year production as Porsche was already introducing the new 964 body. As a result, only a handful of last-year 930s were delivered to the U.S. (approximately 639 coupes). Plus, it was the only year 930 to get the all-new G50/50 5-speed gearbox.

This Porsche was built on September 21st, 1988, and sold new by Schneider & Nelson Porsche of Long Branch, New Jersey on January 30th, 1989. These last-year Turbos came very well equipped with many standard features from the factory. However, this one had the following additional options ordered:

Seat heating (left and right)
Locking differential (40%)
Shorter gearshift lever
Twin back shelf speakers/amplifier system
Sunroof
CD Player

The first owner had the car for about 10-years and put 26,000 miles on it. The 2nd owner had the car for 13-years and sold it in 2012 with 42,000 miles. The next owner is a Los Angeles area enthusiast and friend of ours. He bought the car in August of 2012. We have most of the service records of the previous owners as well as stamps in the maintenance book from the first owner.

Since this Los Angeles owner purchased the 930, he invested nearly $15,000 making sure the car was in tiptop condition for use on vintage touring events. The following services were performed by some of the top Porsche specialists in Southern California including TLG of North Hollywood:

Installed factory correct size Bridgestone Potenza tires
Major service including valve adjustment and new spark plugs
Air conditioning service
New engine sound pad and compartment seal
Detail engine bay to factory specifications
Replace oil lines, vacuum lines, and breather hose
New clutch kit
New distributor cap, rotor, and wire set
Replace factory alarm brain
Engine/Transmission out resealed engine (over $8,000)
Major service (@51k-miles)

We then sold this 930 to a local Los Angeles film/tv producer on February 15th, 2015 with 51,275 miles. His wife is a recognizable TV star. He bought it to drive to Monterey car week as well as some local drives. Unfortunately, his busy schedule has not allowed him the time to use the car as he intended. As a result, he only added an additional 200 miles over the next 3-years. Despite the low use, he still had the car lightly driven and serviced regularly.

We sold this 930 to close friends of ours on March 21st, 2018 with 51,500 miles. They are from Texas and were looking for a more comfortable air-cooled Porsche to use on longer drives. Shortly after purchasing from us, they did a California coastal vacation with the car and then drove it back to Texas. For the last few years, they've added another 6k-miles to the car. They primarily used Ed Mayo in Dallas for their service needs. Mayo Performance has an excellent reputation and is well respected across the country. Services recently performed in February of 2019 at 55,181 miles included:

Service/charge AC system and convert to R134
Replace 4 oil return tubes
New CV boots (4) disassemble and assemble axles with fresh grease
Oil service with oil analysis by Swepco
Install genuine Porsche Clubsport/RS steering wheel (original included)
Tune/adjust air/fuel mixture
Repair factory stereo amp and speaker wiring
New Pirelli tires

It is clear from the receipts and condition that this 930 was always loved and cared for. It was never driven in inclement weather and was well maintained. It was stored properly before each winter. The paint is all original except for the front left fender with partial blending into the driver door. It was verified with a paint meter. The metal panels are all original as it left the factory. The rest of the paint is in good condition. There are a few small blemishes in the paint, which you can see in the photos. The original silver paint is experiencing some clear coat checking which is very common for German silver metallic paint from this era. It is more noticeable in bright and direct sunlight. The factory Fuchs are in excellent condition with no signs of curb rash. They were wearing near-new Pirelli PZero Rosso tires that were installed at the end of 2018. The tires have near full life remaining. The front brakes have 75% life and the rears are at about a third remaining.

The interior is immaculate, as you would expect from a low-mileage example. The leather seats look great with minimal signs of use. The dash is perfect with no cracks or warping. The headliner looks near new as well. The door panels are in excellent condition with none of the typical sagging you see on the armrests. The carpet is original with no stains or other signs of significant wear. All the gauges, clock, radio, electric locks, power windows, electric mirrors, sunroof, lights, and air conditioning work properly.

This 930 drives fantastically. It feels like a new car. Everything is tight and fresh. The steering is very responsive and nimble. The acceleration is smooth with excellent boost. The brakes have nice initial bite with no fading or pulling. It shifts smoothly with no grinding or slipping.

This example passes California's strict smog test as well.

This Turbo comes with 3 main keys, 1 wheel lock key, wheel locks, original owner's manuals, original owner's manual cover, maintenance book with stamps, space saver spare tire, jack, air compressor, tool kit, original sales brochure, and the original steering wheel.
