1964 Pontiac GTO -

Arizona Car - Sold New at Mecham Pontiac in Glendale, AZ - 389ci/348hp Tri-Power V8 - Factory Air Conditioning - PHS Documentation

Offered here is a beautiful example of the rare first-year Pontiac GTO finished in an understated, attractive (factory) color combination. A comprehensive restoration was performed on the car. A binder full of receipts from the restoration shows the eye for detail that was maintained through the restoration process as well as containing PHS Documentation.

The 1964 Pontiac GTO is the car that's widely hailed as the first true American muscle car, but it was built from a formula that hot-rodders and racers had already been using for decades - a bigger engine in a lighter car. Soon, other brands - both from within General Motors and all across Detroit - wanted to get in on the action, and the muscle car era was born.

This muscle car's interior is in beautiful condition, and is where you will find the only aftermarket part that is currently on the car - the steering wheel. (It should come as no surprise that the original steering wheel also comes with the car.) The condition of the interior is as new, and includes original gauges including the no-redline tachometer and 120-mph speedometer, bucket seats, center console mounted vacuum gauge, push button radio, and retractable seat belts. Machined-steel dash trim surrounded by black padding and blue-painted lower dash with GTO emblem completes the performance-oriented look. The car's trunk area is clean with a factory-style vinyl mat, spare tire, and jack in place.

This old GOAT's exterior is in beautiful condition - both the top side and the underside have been finished with care, and attention to detail. Cameo Ivory exterior paint was professionally applied-including in the engine bay, door jambs, and fuel-filler areas-and is of uniform, standout quality. All glass-lighting lenses, windshield, and side windows-is clear and unblemished. Chrome trim on the bumpers, grille, side mirrors, windshield surround, and hood "scoops" is all in excellent, show-worthy condition. "GTO" badging front, rear, and both sides is correct, and correctly located. The wheels wear the optional "custom wheel discs" with spinners and redline tires.

Under the hood, the Tri-Power chrome air cleaners crown the engine. Properly painted in the "Pontiac turquoise" the engine block also features chromed valve covers. In all, the engine compartment is clean and tidy with hoses and components properly located throughout. From underneath, the car's dual exhaust is correct, and the restored undercarriage shows very nicely.

This is a beautiful example of a classic Pontiac, and a great example of one of the first "Muscle Cars" to roam the roads of America. A 389 V8 under the hood, understated color combination, and the subject of a full restoration this is a classic to make room for in your collection.

About Garage Kept Motors

Garage Kept Motors, LLC specializes in classic and specialty online auto sales.

For our consignors, we are the only auto brokers that offer a Transparent Sale Disclosure. This means, when a car sells, we provide an exact copy of the Bill of Sale. We do this so our clients know exactly who bought their car, where it went, and most importantly how much we sold it for. No funny business.

For our buyers, our vehicles are listed on the Internet, with over 100 photos, including undercarriage pictures, and walk-around videos of the vehicles running plus a narrative-style write-up of the cars history and features. Our international exposure allows us to sell cars across the globe, and we sell a majority of them out of state and overseas. We deliver honesty and consistency in our photos and descriptions, a “no surprise” approach, so buyers, both near and far, can invest with confidence sight unseen. We are not a gallery. Vehicles can be seen locally by appointment as potential buyers are given our undivided attention.
