BLACK 1978 MGB GT SPORTS 2 DOOR MANUAL SHIFT WITH OVERDRIVE & SUN ROOF for sale
Current customer rating: (72 votes ) based onOriginal British Leyland manufactured 1978 MGB GT Sports 2 door in very good condition. As a historic vehicle, this head turner comes with the added bonus of no tax. Used both as a show car in a number of classic car events as well as our daily driver, this car still lives up to its name as a roaster that turns heads.
As our daily driver, for nearly three years, it has performed faultlessly. Having recently moved house, it's taken the drive from Brighton to Sandbach without missing a beat.
The car was purchased from an older gent who took the time to rebuild and restore it, and along the way he photographed his progress – the collection of photographs, along with all the receipts (even the original purchase receipt from British Leyland Manufacturing) comes with the car.
For ease and convenience (and to help with the upkeep and performance of the car), my husband fitted an electronic ignition to the car as soon as we got it. As a trained mechanic, he took the time to make sure the car ran and performed at its best. He also fitted new tyres, new front discs, calipers and pads, and has just fitted a new set of rear pads. The car has also recently been serviced – an oil and filter change along with the valves checked and adjusted. The engine purrs like a kitten when cruising and roars like a lion when you put your foot down.
Overdrive works as it should, the sun roof works and is watertight but has been rarely used as my husband tends to get sunburnt in five minutes flat.
Why am I selling you ask? We've just purchased a classic mini that was made the year my husband was born and we've decided we are a one-classic-car kinda of family – so unfortunately the MG has drawn the short straw.
If you are interested, come on over and view the car before the auction ends, we will let the engine warm up and my husband will gladly take you for a spin around the block. You can have a good look around it and make sure you are happy with what you see before you place your bid.
We aren't in a big rush to sell, so I am more than willing to let the auction run to the end, but I am also open to sensible offers. We aren't interested in a trade, Mondeos, old transits or a packet of Jaffa Cakes or whatever else someone might want to offer – although my husband won't shy away from a Jaffa Cake, as long as it comes with a stack of £20 notes to count.
Good luck bidding on the car, I hope it brings you as much joy as it has brought us and safe travels!
