1991 Range Rover Classic Vogue 3.9 EFI for sale
Current customer rating:
This car has been a labour of love over the past 8 Months, and now needs a new home.
As above, it's a 1991 model with the 3.9 V8 engine and automatic gearbox. It has been sympathetically yet thoroughly restored and is ready to use for years to come.
Let's start with the body- professionally repainted in the best colour- Ardennes Green, it is in immaculate condition with no rust at all. The doors are all in great shape on the inner frames, as are the window frames and both tailgates. The bumpers have been refinished in the correct semi-gloss black, with new brackets, ends caps and fixings.
The wheels are the original 3 Spoke's, restored in the correct grey with polished lips. The tyres are period correct Michelin X M+S 224's and finish the car perfectly.
The underside has been completely stripped, the rust has been repaired (there wasn't a great deal of it), and then thoroughly cleaned and painted. The chassis is in excellent shape.
Every component of the braking system has been replaced, from the servo to the callipers, and everything in between. Continuing on this theme, the suspension has also been completely rebuilt. Upgrades include a full poly-bush kit and upgraded springs and dampers. The ride is not harsh, but the car has gained a sense of surefooted-ness that these Range Rovers often lack. All of the nuts, bolts and washers underneath the car are new.
The engine is wonderfully smooth and benefits from the following;
Rebuilt fuel injectors
New coolant hoses & system flush
Full service using Lucas high-zinc oil, NGK ignition parts and Bosch Filters
New fuel pump and pipes
Tubular exhaust manifolds
New battery
It starts and idles very well, over 1,200 miles covered in the last 4 weeks without any issues. A compression test showed good, consistent results across the 8 cylinders.
The interior is original and well cared for- there is some slight wear to the drivers seat bolster where the stitching has come away (about 1.5” in total), and some of the varnish on the wood trim has cracked. This doesn't detract too much from the overall quality of the car- after all, it's now 30 years old- but certainly could be improved to make it perfect. The headlining has been professionally reupholstered.
Currently the original steering wheel has been swapped for my Italvolanti Formel which matches the wood trim inside the car, but the original wheel will be fitted before the car is sold.
The sound system has been upgraded with 8 Pioneer speakers, a 10” Pioneer subwoofer mounted in the original boot lining, and a Blaupunkt Bremen SQR46 head unit. The Blaupunkt head unit mimics the original 80's version but with new features such as Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, DAB Radio and Subwoofer control. The new sound system coupled with modern sound deadening inside the car gives an even higher level of refinement to an already very comfortable ride!
