1960 Austin Seven Deluxe Mini 'Patina Princess' Featured in MiniWorld May 2021 for sale
Current customer rating: (65 votes ) based onWe have owned this Mini for the last four years and we had intended to carry out a full restoration, however, upon inspection it was decided to leave her exactly as she is. Once restored the glorious patina which has taken 60 years to mature would be lost forever, and as a road legal working car a restoration was deemed unnecessary and would detract and devalue her, after all its only original once.
Built on 11th October 1960 she was sold new by Craybrooke Garage Ltd in Sidcup, Kent on 2nd January 1961 to her first owner Mr William Stanley Mabe Esq and registered on the plate 59MKK which she still retains today and was finished in Tartan Red with Grey and Red interior. All the original documentation is still present with the car including the original log book, sales invoice, registration book, driving licences and every MOT certificate issued from its first in 1965 up to its last in 1975 when it was taken off the road and laid up in a Garage for the next 40 years. Also present are some Black and White period photos of her back in the 1960's which show all the period accessories fitted to her, which remarkably are virtually all still present. Even down to the Leopard Print Seat covers which are still in the Boot.
What makes 59MKK unique from virtually every other Mini is her provenance which cannot be disputed. Even by today's standards 59MKK is packed with Dealer fitted optional extras which is what stands her apart from any other Mini. The original bill of sale identifies every option fitted and how much it cost. Together with the period photos which help to confirm this, no doubt can be given to the authenticity of 59MKK. Some of the extras are bizarre like the cigarette holder which pre ignites the cigarette for you, down to the shaving socket and the Flying A on the bonnet (7s 9d) by the way. The period accessories today on their own are worth a small fortune such is their rarity.
A 10 page article was recently published by Mini World magazine and they loved it, such is it's uniqueness, try and find another one like this. As it is difficult to compare with other Mini's we have given it a guide price of £25000
Remember this is a fully working unrestored, genuine early production Mini, not a basket case on a pallet requiring thousands and thousands to restore. You could drive it away today and it would get as much attention and plaudits as the best restored Mini's out there. Come and take a look and judge for yourself. She is kept in our showroom so viewing isn't weather dependent. Have a good look and a chat over a cup of Tea and make your own mind up.
Viewing is recommended and encouraged.
