MGB GT 1971 for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.1) based on 39 votes
We are selling our all original 1971 MGB GT, which has been a trusted daily driver for us over the last 3 months since we bought it.

We have decided to part ways with it as me and my partner both have busy lives and were a bit ambitious in thinking we could keep a classic car long term.

We have put a great deal into getting it into top condition mechanically, and it is now ready for the next phase of its journey.

We bought the car in April 2021. Within 5 days of buying the car, the clutch went and whilst getting this repaired, we chose to get our mechanic to deal with any issue he could find, at a cost of £1,800.

The work we have completed (we have the paperwork for this):

Clutch replaced

Exhaust down pipe bolts replaced

Rear wheel cylinders replaced

Brake fluid changes

Clutch slave cylinder and pipe replaced

Off side brake pipe replaced

Near side front lower bushes replaced

Rocker cover gasket replaced

Chest gaskets replaced

Oil and filter changed

Rear exhausted mounts replaced

Fuel pipes by pump replaced

Rear shoe retaining springs and retainers replaced

Gear box oil seal replaced

Gear box oil topped up

All smith dials are working as should, bar the speedo, due to the cable snapping. We have the new cable ready to be installed and will include this in the sale.

The car comes with overdrive for gears 3 and 4, which are fully working as they should.

The sills are in a fair condition. One sill is damaged in a ten inch area, where the pinch part of the seal was crushed when the previous owner jacked it up in the incorrect place. We can send photos of all the sills on request.

Engine area is good and overall cosmetic rust is good, with only a few very small patches that would need dealing with eventually.

There are a couple of small tears in the vinyl roof, so this would need replacing.

The car comes with various paperwork from it's long history. These can be sent over if you require more information.

We're not looking for a quick sale, and want to make sure it will be going to the right home. Therefore only sensible offers will be responded to. Thanks for reading.
