This car is absolutely exceptional, being a rare James Young finned rear wing design, and more importantly, having had a full, bare chassis up restoration in the 1990s, something like £80,000 having been spent on it, which of course represents a considerable amount more in today's money. Very nicely and appropriately painted in a lovely shade of deep blue with silver/grey upper parts and beautifully upholstered in beige leather, piped blue, complemented by fawn carpets and superb veneers. The car even smells right. Even the boot is freshly carpeted, with an excellent rubberised, fitted over mat, giving protection. In gorgeous condition throughout, having been very well cared for, and now even better than when we last sold it in 2016, following another £15,000 or so spent on detailed attention, improving upon what was already a fabulous example. The car has power steering, air conditioning, upgraded to alternator charging and is fitted with an excellent stainless steel exhaust system. Complete with correct tools, large and small, and the previously mentioned history file, the car is driving exceptionally well, being smooth, relaxed and enjoyable, and keeping up with modern traffic with ease, As lovely as you would want it to be! MoT tested until March 2022.Please note that the photos show the car's original registration number, VXA 297, which may well be available. We are looking into the possibility of claiming it back.

James Young produced just 26 of the B10 design on the S1 (B Bentley, 10 4-door saloon) with their distinctive square push buttons on the door handles, some of the B10 designed cars had discreet fins on the top of the rear wings, James Young also produced 24 cars to this design for Rolls-Royce on the Silver Cloud (called the SC10 design). Wealthy & discerning owners of cars with the B10 coachwork included Mjr Peter Holdworth-Hunt MC, Sir Ivan Arthur Rice Stedeford, industrialist & philanthropist, Andre Fluckiger (Siss banker), Sir Bernard Docker (Daimler & BSA) and Sir William John Herbert de Wette Mullens. The 1st owner of B140BA was Arthur Holmes who was an exceptional customer of both Rolls-Royce & Bentley; during the period of 1948 to 1966 he owned (from new) 14 Rolls-Royce cars and 12 Bentleys and he seemed to be particularly keen on Silver Wraiths (8) and Phantom Vs (6)!

About usThe Real Car Company was established in 1987 by Ray Arnold & Ian Johnstone. It was a hobby that 'Got out of hand'. Our interest in cars of the type that we now sell goes back to our childhoods, and ownership back to the 1970's. Gradually more cars started passing through our hands, and by 1986 we had decided to make a full time occupation of buying and selling the cars that we love.

We started with a single car (all we could afford) which we sold quickly, and before we knew it we had 4 or 5 on our hands! This was alongside another business that we were involved in at the time. In the Spring of 1988 we gave up the other business, (exhaust systems), rented part of the premises that we still operate from now, and went full time.

We had a good start in the boom years of the late eighties, which set us up well enough for us to ride the storm of recession in the years that followed. As the years went on the number of cars going through our hands increased gradually, we built up a workforce, and now in 2009 we carry a stock of around 40 to 50 vehicles and there are ten of us here. In 1999 we were awarded 'International Classic Car Dealer of the Year' by Classic Cars Magazine. The market for 'our' kind of cars is nicely stable, generally prices are creeping upwards all the time, and we feel that investing in a car - or cars - of the type that we sell is generally a great place to put your money. Don't do it just for investment, but you can get a great deal of pleasure from these vehicles, prices are - in our opinion - unlikely to drop, and you can't drive a share certificate! Some prices in the last three or four years have moved up considerably, and these cases have shown a tremendous return on investment.

Over the last fifteen years or so we have brought home several hundred cars from the USA, and we are always looking for more. If you know of a Rolls-Royce or Bentley anywhere in the world, in absolutely any condition, please let us know. Distance no object, commissions happily paid. We always particularly enjoy the 'barn finds'.
