Gateway Classic Cars of Scottsdale is delighted to offer this grand old post-war American classic 1948 Buick Super convertible for sale marketed with our Arizona showroom, located in North Phoenix. It's fair to say that Buicks of the 1940's hit the sweet spot for the contemporary upper-middle class buyer with jaw-dropping looks, smooth performance and executive level comfort/power features. This restored '48 convertible underwent a frame-off restoration to get to its current condition and the pride of ownership shines through in every nook and cranny. Coated in a shiny exterior Black paint and equipped with a Tan power-operated convertible top, this Buick Super has some beautiful body lines and is loaded with chrome trim, ornaments and badging. Fender skirts, white wall tires and a split windshield instantly give onlookers an indication to the vintage of this drop-top classic. Under the large side-opening hood of this '48 is the period-correct 248 CID “Fireball” Inline 8-cylinder engine that purrs into life and performs with smooth efficiency at speed. Paperwork associated with the restoration estimates that the car has approximately 115hp and a top speed of 125mph. To give some context, these Buicks were built in the days before the Interstate Highway system was built so these were some impressive numbers. The 3-speed manual transmission with “three-on-the-tree” operation gives further authenticity to the driving experience and is fairly easy to operate. It wouldn't be right to overlook some of the quirky interior features of this luxo-barge either: luxurious Red leather bench seats front and rear, the steering wheel looks like it came out of a sailing boat and is covered in chrome with a horn ring, the equally bright chrome dash with stock gauges/instruments and the large clock on the passenger side. There are some surprising options available for a car of this vintage that all work including power windows, power seat and a functioning AM radio. This 1948 Buick Super convertible is an attractive hunk of American steel and was appraised at $80,000 in 2014. [ omitted ]. [ omitted ]. [ omitted ].
