THE GENERAL SHAPE OF THE THING

It's hard to say if a vehicle like this is really a car or a diagnosis. It's a very specific car for a very specific driver. It has 550 WHP. a bad-tempered snarl. and a lowered stance that makes navigating road construction more exciting than most high-performance driving. It's got an unforgettable silhouette — people take photos of it in traffic and flip you the bird from the sidewalk. When the boost kicks in. it sounds like you're being pursued by pterodactyls. You run through the gears and most contenders are left behind in a cloud that smells vaguely of midlife crisis or benevolent narcissism.

Look. when I bought it. it had a copy of 2Fast2Furious in the media player.

It's that kind of car.

It's great.

IF IT'S GREAT. THEN WHY ARE YOU DIVORCING IT?

I bought the Z 18 months ago while my Mitsubishi Evo's build was getting sorted out — I wanted something fast. something unique. something that made a lot of noise and a lot of horsepower. After struggling with my build for so long. I wanted something that was already done. and the Z fit the bill (I wrote about my thoughts regarding buying a finished build. if you're interested — if you want to see the article on the car. look up "Why I F*ck Up My Cars" on the Jalopnik site). I put 10. 00 joyful miles on it as I finished up the Evo. Now my Evo is done and I'm just an AWD girl at heart and moreover. I can only drive one car at a time. so the Z languishes in the garage. an automotive Lady of Shalott. Like Mary Poppins or Nanny McPhee. it's time for the Z to go to another family to solve their modified-car problems and teach them to love themselves.

IS IT A TRASH FIRE?

Those of you who know modified cars know that buying someone else's build can be a fraught prospect. No one wants to buy something sh*t-hot only to watch it torpedo on a turnpike 2. 00 miles later. I have sat in my share of flaming cars and it's not as fun as it looks on TV. This build. however. is rock-solid. The car has great daily-driving road manners. It runs on pump gas. idles nicely even with the a/c on. and has two boost settings so that you get great fuel mileage as you scream down the highway in 6th gear. Schoolchildren could use the clutch.

SO LIKE MARY POPPINS. IT IS PRACTICALLY PERFECT IN EVERY WAY?

Heavy emphasis on practically. It's been driven. not bronzed. and so it has some wear and tear: a small scratch on the driver's side door. a few hairline on the rear bumper. and some rock chips on the hood. All have been professionally corrected. There's some wear on the driver's side seat. The rear door opens slowly. Sometimes. when there's a heavy rain. something goes sideways in the electrical department and the windows crack slightly. Other than that. it is pretty spiffy. It has never been wrecked and it does not smell. which is important to me and should be important to you.

SOME MINOR NOTES

It comes with two sets of wheels. the Rays Eng forged sport wheels that came with it (shown in the last photograph) and the WORK Meister I put on them. It's currently got lightly used Pilot SuperSports on it which I adore. I also lightly tinted the rear lights as you can see in the close up photo (it's filthy in that photo. pretend it's not). It has all the owner's manuals in it. Since I've had it. all work has been done by Atlantic Motorsports in Gaithersburg. MD.

LET'S DO THIS THING

I'm gonna tell you upfront that the reserve is set at $20k. I bought it for $31k and put miles and wheels on it. which I feel equals out.

On Jun-20-17 at 05:11:19 PDT. seller added the following information:

Note: Like the wordsmith that I am. I realized there was a typo in the reserve amount box as I was trying to puzzle over why the listing was not reflecting that the reserve had been met — I'd set it at 22k and said 20k in the listing. I can't remove it now. but I could lower it. so it's now set at 20200. the lowest it'll let me go. Sorry for the confusion.
