For sale. 1963 Kaiser Jeep J200 “Thriftside” four wheel drive pickup truck. It's the first year for the “J” series truck and with the rare and desirable “Thriftside” 7' box. The odometer shows just over 80K miles. which I believe to be accurate. “Tornado” OHC I-6 engine runs well but leaks oil pretty badly.   Engine accessories. water pump. fuel pump. distributor. carb and alternator all work well or have been rebuilt since I've had the truck. No coolant leaks. The heat and defrost work fine. The T-90. 3-speed manual transmission works OK. Could shift smoother between 2 & 3. The column shift linkage has only a few miles on rebuild. Suspect synchros are wearing. Clutch also Is OK. It has newer clutch hydraulic cylinders.   Dana 20 transfer case works well and indicator lamps function. The rest of the drive train. drive shafts. axles. (4. 09 ratio). and knuckles are in good shape and have been maintained. Steering is good…considering design and brakes work well. including E-brake. Brake master cylinder changed to dual reservoir style. Good rubber on refurbished OEM rims. The truck drives very well. The “Tornado” with the drive ratio works well and it cruises easily at 60 mph. Body very good condition for its age. Some rust in cab floor but not bad. New panels are readily available. Some rust in right side rocker panel. I do have new replacement I will include. Bench seat has been reupholstered. Later model rear sliding window installed. Door seals are bad. All controls and gauges are operable. Box was restored several years ago. Rear frame stripped and painted at the same time. It is a very basic model with a painted “Rhino” grill and no headliner. The frame and chassis components are in excellent shape. The rear springs have been rebuilt and the fuel tank is a new aftermarket poly unit. I also have a “0” mile “Tornado” engine I would negotiate separately. It was dealer ordered for use in a boat built that was never completed. All of my receipts are available.

I love this truck. as do my family and friends. It is definitely and attention getter! This is a difficult choice but due to some other “Jeep” acquisitions I've made. (a 1970 CJ5 Renegade 1 and a '68 J3500 Dually). but I don't have the personal time/money that it really deserves. It's time to offer it to someone else. Professionally I would love to offer my services to give it the restoration it merits. It would be a moderate restoration since the mechanical and esthetic condition is much better than a typical vehicle of its age. I recently completed my portion restoration on a nearly identical '65 J200 “Thriftside”. That truck is currently undergoing final bodywork. That project can be seen in The “Wright” Thriftside album  on my FB page. Buege's Classic Jeep & 4X4. Feel free to ask ANY question about this Jeep or any of my other projects. Also. check out my other “Jeep” stuff for sale. This truck is also for sale locally so this sale may be ended at any time. Thanks for looking.
