1980 TOYOTA 4WD SPORT TRUCK - 49K Original Miles, Original Paint, Window Sticker

I can't imagine there is another 1980 Toyota 4WD Sport Truck in such fantastic original condition.   This truck has 49. 00 original miles and could pass for a very nicely restored example of the iconic Toyota that later became the venerable Tacoma and Hi-Lux.   The mileage is documented by a log book with over 300 entries including notes for every tank of gas. oil change. tire rotation. grease job. hubs being locked and unlocked per manufacturer's recommendation. plugs. air filter. shocks. timing check. tire purchase. fuel filter. and gas mileage calculation. I've never seen anyone so dedicated to record keeping who would keep track of every tank of gas from mile 198 in May of 1980 until mile 47. 48 done on June 7. 2009 just weeks before the dedicated owner passed away.   In addition to the paperwork. we also have an original sales brochure. original sales window sticker showing standard and optional equipment. new vehicle order sheet showing purchase price with receipt for deposit (dated 1/23/80). receipt from Central Toyota. Inc. for payment in full (dated 5/23/80). carbon copy of an official bank check from AmeriTrust for the cashier's check to buy the truck (dated May 22. 1980). couple of magazine articles from 1979 and 1980 on the Toyota 4x4 saved by the original owner. and various receipts for products and services for the truck including proof of payment for the blanket style seat cover that protected the seat from wear and tear for thirty years.  

The body is in excellent shape and still wears all of its factory original paint.   The few scratches and stone chips that happened over the years were covered with factory touch up paint that was applied by hand.   The owner covered the engine and undercarriage with a heavy coat of Cosmoline (greasy Vaseline type of sealant) that protected the truck very well.   The undercarriage is solid with nothing more than a few minor areas of surface rust.   If you wanted to ruin the originality. you could spend half a day sanding and painting the undercarriage black until it looked brand new.   We like it the way it is.   The original stripes are holding on and look good. but there is some fading and lifting.   The body is laser straight and has never been damaged or taken apart.   The only signs of age are two small rust spots that formed under one of the truck bed tie downs.   The truck bed has been covered with a spray in liner.

In the past few years. new BFG tires have been installed along with Bilstein shocks and a Monroe steering stabilizer.    The wheels and roll bar have been powder coated and a new rear bumper was installed.    New front brake rotors and pads were installed while the rear drums were adjusted and the vehicle aligned.   Ever fluid was replaced.   The cylinder head was removed and machined due to a stuck valve.   New head bolts were installed.   The cooling system was flushed and pressure tested and a new thermostat was installed.   A tune up that included carburetor cleaned. new spark plugs. rotor. wires. fuel pump and distributor cap was performed.   A new exhaust system was fitted.   This truck passed CA smog with absolutely no problem.  

The options for the factory “Sport Truck” are: 3 color sport stripe. Am/FM Stereo Radio. Tachometer & Trip meter. Amp/oil pressure gauge console. padded wheel & shift knob. durable plush-pile carpet. full tinted glass. 3 color knot cloth vinyl seat. and wood grain instrument panel. Optional equipment included: All weather guard package. window package (sliding rear window and vent windows). Tilt wheel. power steering. tailgate panel. and ultra mirrors. The 4x4 has a hi4 and low4 option with manual locking hubs. The 4x4 system is in excellent condition. The factory radio still works. The truck does not have A/C. According to the window sticker it was ordered without it. The very rare Toyota 4x4 floor mats are also included.

This truck can be inspected during Monday – Saturday in Newport Beach. CA.   We are a classic car dealer known for specializing in Porsches. Ferraris and Jaguars since 1986. but lately we've been very lucky to find some amazing classic Toyota Land Cruisers.   That pursuit led us to this truck which is owned by a very good customer who lives in Hawaii.  

The truck is being sold As-Is without any warranty expressed or implied.   Shipping charges will be the responsibility of the buyer. but we are happy to make all arrangements for you.   Overseas buyers are welcome too.   CA residents or any buyer wishing to drive the truck off the lot will have to pay full CA sales tax or registration.    There isn't any clause in the CA system that allows and out of state buyer to show up in CA and drive a car home without paying full CA fees.   SORRY – NO EXCEPTIONS.

 Sorry for any confusion regarding SALES TAX.   If you are an out of state or out of country buyer. you do not need to pay sales tax if the truck is shipped out of state or country.   Sales tax is required if you live in state or wish to drive it away from our dealership on a CA road even if you are headed out of state.
