Up for bid is this 1955 Porsche Speedster.   This is a project car. but one that is in reachable limits for a private party to undertake.   The engine is a 1959 model 1600 cc and has been completely rebuilt with zero miles on it.   The engine is installed in the car and hasn't been run yet.   Everything in the engine was put into "storage mode" before installing in the car.

The body is mostly complete.   I have the dashboard gauges. the beehive tail lights and the steel seat frames.   I don't have the headlights. the original bumpers or the bow frame for the convertible top or the top itself.   There are some dents and dings here and there and some bondo applied by previous owners. but not much.   The car has been stored inside for many years and is relatively rust free.   This car could be a very nice driver!

On Oct-12-13 at 15:39:17 PDT. seller added the following information:

I'm adding some more information to try and answer some of the questions.

The VIN # is 80798.   The original engine number was 35586 but is not the engine in the car now.   The engine is an S90 and was originally built between the years 1959 to 1963.   I don't know the exact year of the engine in the car.   The original transmission number is #6811 and is the transmission in the car now.   The engine was rebuilt. as I said above. but I neglected to add that the transmission and transaxle were rebuilt at the same time. in 2004.   The engine and transmission/transaxle were set up for "long term storage" by the mechanic.

The "Birth Date/Delivery Date" of this car was:  08/12/1955

I've attached a copy of the Certificate of Authenticity issued by Porsche Cars North America. Inc.

This car has been in my wife's family for over fifty years.   My wife's father bought the car from the original owner in the early sixties.   The engine. along with the transmission and transaxle. were completely rebuilt in 2004 by "Klaus" in Kalispell. Montana.   (Yes. we have a real live German Porsche guy here in the boonies!)

All the body panels are original to the car.   We also have an aftermarket. fiberglass hard top that goes with the car.

I have this car listed locally. so I reserve the right to end this auction at any time.

As far as my reserve goes. I'm going to keep it private since. fter all. this is an auction.

Thanks for everybody's interest.
