Fiat 500D for sale
Current customer rating: (646 votes ) based onFiat 500 D ‘Trasformabile' Classic – 1965 LHD – Fully Restored & Execptional!
£14. 50
This highly desirable ‘D' model (the most sort after & collectable model in the classic 500 range) has the very rare ‘suicide doors'. a full length convertible sunshine roof - ‘trasformabile'. ‘round speedo' & been upgraded to a Fiat 650cc engine with syncro box to make it a pleasure to drive (We also have the original 497cc engine should it be required) - In fact it has it all!
It's an original LHD Italian example from the beautiful city of Reggio Emilia. adjacent to Modena. Northern Italy that has only had a hand full of owners from new & was manufactured in the final year of production 1965 at the Fiat factory in Italy. It stayed in Northern Italy were it was fully restored to concours condition in 2010/11. until September this year when we purchased it from our Italian classic car partner. whom had been using it as a static display in his dealership.
Amusingly when he transported it to our workshop. it arrived on a closed in lorry with a handful of new Lamborghinis & other assorted super cars!
We have just completed UK registration. MOT. a full glass out repaint to concours standard & many other improvements. along with fully detailing the vehicle to our usual high show standard.
This beautiful example is eminently usable as it has a new Fiat 650cc engine with new syncro gearbox. sports sump & exhaust & is with out a doubt the quickest best handling 500 we have ever driven. span > it drives as good as it looks! The original 497cc engine can also be supplied. but for those who have driven a ‘D' model with the original motor. they are not really very usable in modern traffic conditions. so the 650cc motor makes a welcome change.
The previous Italian owner entrusted his beloved 500D to an Italian classic car restorer whom embarked on a full pain staking restoration to show standard in 2010 / 11. This included: Complete strip to bare metal shell. the structure & floors were found to be excellent. The original interior was also fully and expertly retrimmed in cream / beige. The engine was replaced along with the gear box. The handbrake cable was changed. clutch replaced. span > all pedals changed. the petrol tank was fully refurbished and flushed. the complete door card set & interior trim was renewed. including the full length sunroof & roof frame. other items of interior trim were refurbished or replaced. The lights were replaced. all new rubber items were replaced including the rear window. windscreen & side window rubbers. new windscreen rear window & quarter light windows fitted. new bushes. span > new struts. new starter motor and a new exhaust. in fact every mechanical item was either refurbished or replaced.
The bumpers & brackets were replaced. new wing mirror fitted. fully shot blasted & refurbished larger Fiat steel wheels. new matching tyres with white wall bands. The car was fully painted at this time in the beautiful shade of Fiat Celeste Crociera - Cruise Sky (472) that you see today. In fact it looks as good underneath as it does on the top!
This truly impressive example is just showing 28. 25 KMs.
Since being in our possession. we have been meticulous in our further preparation prior to offering this exception example to the market by undertaking the following works: A full glass out repaint of the vehicle. as it had picked up several light scratches & where it had sat in the showroom the sun had slightly faded one upward facing side. we could have machine polished the complete vehicle & touched up the paintwork. but this is an impressive vehicle that we fell in love with & thus we thought the best solution was a full glass out repaint to show standard. we had all the chrome work fully repolished whilst it was off along with the trims. which we also replaced all the fixing clips. we reset the boot lid correctly so it locks with ease. fitted various minor bits of trim & clips including the complete door rubbers. bonnet front pad. engine bay rubbers. engine lid heat pad. Air filter clips. jack straps. correct D period tool kit. fitted the correct D engine decal set. fitted new period number plates with number plate surrounds. adjusted the steering geometry. supplied a fresh MOT and conducted a multipoint check. replaced the fuel with £25 of new super unleaded. tuned the carbs. set the timing. adjusted & cleaned the brakes & given the cheeky little chap a full service . including NGK plugs. fuel filter. air filter. oils etc. just to be sure! Fitted a period tax disc holder. 500 Key ring. ACI club sticker. it even has fitted a chrome luggage rack & period leather travelling suitcase. The car is on the button. very reliable & ready to go…
The car looks as new and is no doubt better than when it left the factory in 1965. Its probably one of the best examples in Europe. has been correctly restored by people who know the marquee. This is a collectors opportunity and a superb investment and has only driven less than 800 KMS since its full restoration & hence this cheeky chappy is now registered. MOT'd & being offered for sale!
Fiat Celeste Crociera (472) paintwork with a new cream / beige interior. including matching door cards & a new black full length mohair convertible sunshine roof. with matching 500D belt to hold back & associated clips.
The vehicle comes with a good history file & contains the UK V5C. UK registration papers. HPI checked. Fresh current UK MOT. Italian log book. Original Italian Certificato Di Proprietra. Specialist parts invoices. Copious photos showing car on completion in Italy located in the dealers showroom. Further detailed photos of the vehicle at our premises having the glass out repaint.
