It has becoming common place to see the terms “barn find”. “time capsule” and “survivor” used here on EBAY.   The terms are now used to describe deteriorating rigs that appear to have been found in a collapsed barn or survived a hurricane.    I try to stay away from using those terms simply because they are so overused and abused.

Up until now - there is just no other way to describe this 1967 low mileage. one owner. California native Barracuda than by using ALL THREE!  This car is truly a barn find. time capsule and survivor!

Several months ago my neighbor called me and told me I needed to come over and look at these cars he had stumbled upon while preparing for an estate sale.   Being the car nut that I am I rushed over to meet him and take a look.   When I drove up to the house my neighbor was standing in the driveway. the garage doors were closed.   I got out of my truck. said hello and he turned and opened the garage door.   There under 17 years of dust sat this Dark Metallic Forest Green 1967 Barracuda AND a Top Banana Yellow 1972 Charge SE Brougham (Photo included in ad).   Two hours later and with some substantial check writing and I was on my way home with both cars!

An engineer by trade my hobby and passion is cars.   Unfortunately space and money often times force a reduction in the collection.   That time is now and now is a once in a lifetime opportunity for you Mopar fans to add a true “time capsule”. “barn find” and “survivor” to your collection.   They are only original once!

On July 3. 1967 Thomas Edens walked into Pasadena Chrysler Plymouth. plopped down $2850 and drove home in a brand new Dark Metallic Forest Green 1967 Plymouth Barracuda.   What did Thomas get for $2850?  A 1967 Barracuda with a 273-2V V-8. bench seat. décor group. AM radio. auto trans. . power steering. smog equipment. front and rear bumper guards. glove box lock. tinted windshield. sill moldings. form seats. vac. gauge. wheel covers and whitewall tires!  The car looks today as it did the day he drove it home (original photo included in ad).

Thomas financed the car for 3 years with Security Pacific National Bank and was probably a bit nervous as he drove home. wondering how he was going to make the payment of $65. 56/month for the next three years!  Somehow Thomas found a way to make those payments and for the next 49 years. until his passing in 2016. the Barracuda was his pride and joy!

In the glovebox of the car I found a write-up by Thomas about the car.   The last paragraph goes like this “The car has seen us through dating. our honeymoon. and has brought home our brand new baby girl from the hospital in 1978.   It has traveled over most of the Western United States in all kinds of weather. and has even been used for special camping trips back in the late 1960's.   The car is now “retired” and is used only for shows and pleasure drives”.

This is truly a rare opportunity to add an extremely special car to your collection.   The Barracuda has 92. 00 original miles and is 100% original with the exception of the cam. lifters. ignition. carb. jetting and shift kit in the transmission.   The car still sports the original California black license plates and every California registration since new is included.   Other documentation/memorabilia included with the car are the original sales contract. owner's manual. sales brochure. finance documents. Certicard (warranty card). span >  photos of the car when new in Pasadena and a personal touch Thomas added to the car. a Roadrunner sticker on the underside of the hood (I did not have the heart to remove it).   Very cool stuff.

Interior – 100% original and near flawless!  With the exception of a slight seam separation on the top edge of the  driver's and passenger's seats. a very small crack in the drivers armrest and a quarter sized wear spot in the carpet on the drivers floorboard the interior is spotless an beautiful.   The pictures represent the interior nicely.   EVERYTHING works with the exception of the horn and the A/C.   Unbelievable!!

Exterior – In the documentation Thomas indicates the paint is original.   I do see signs of an early repaint on the driver's quarter panel. trunk lid and panel behind back widow.   There is lacquer checking on those panels which leads me to believe they were repainted at some point.   Nonetheless. the paint has great shine and is truly amazing for being 50 years old.   All the chrome is nice and straight!  Body is arrow straight!  I can only find two tiny door dings – one on the front of the driver's fender and one toward the back of the passenger's fender.   All the glass is good with chips or pitting.   The undercarriage of the car is original and clean

Mechanical – I was amazed when I pulled the dipstick on the Barracuda and found fresh. clean oil!  The same was true for the trans. fluid. brake fluid and air filter.   It was like Thomas prepared the car for a long term slumber 17 years ago and then never touched it again.   To get the car back on the road I drained the gas. replaced all the wheel cylinders and rebuilt the carb.   Once that was done I hit the key and the 273 rumbled to life!  The car has a great sound. drives like a new one and gets all sorts of attention!  With the exception of a PS leak (hose I believe) the car does not have any drips or slobbers.   It is really clean and tidy.   The tires were brand new 17 years ago (Michelins) and still look brand new but do have flat spots.   I have been driving it around the neighborhood to work those out. They are getting better but not gone yet.   From the Michelin tires to the Mopar belts and hoses. it is very apparent Thomas cared for and loved this car.

Typically I do not usually ramble on about a car like I have about this car.   But this is not a car you find every day and far from typical.   The car you see in the photos has not been detailed. is unrestored. unmolested. has great documentation. low miles. one owner Southern California car – How often does something like this come along?

If you are in search of a 1967 Barracuda to drive and enjoy or one to add to your collection. this museum piece is one to consider.   Good luck and happy bidding!
