1966 D - Austin Mini Moke - English Built

1966 Registered - Austin Mini Moke - Unfinished Project

Finished in "Paul Smith" colours and fitted with a 1275 A+ Engine

According to the Heritage Certificate this Moke was built on the 10th December 1964 and Austin Factory in Longbridge Birmingham in its original colour of Spruce Green on the 7th January 1965 - Destination . Lookers Manchester. The recorded date of fist registration being 3rd February 1966.

I purchased the car a few years ago from a Moke enthusiast who had himself purchased the car as a part finished project from a vendor in Holland who had undertaken the extensive restoration works and intricately painted the distinctive "Paul Smith" Style signature colours with the intention of using the vehicle for the promotion of his business.

The previous keeper did little with the car and was keen to see the car returned to the road so sold it on - unfortunately 2 years on we haven't got around to starting the project and having collected some 22 restoration projects I have decided to advertise some "as is" as my warehouse is full and I can't see it being started in the near future.

After purchase I managed to contact the Dutch owner who advised that the Engine was taken from a Mini Metro and was running fine prior to removal. the Moke is currently set up as a Left Hand Drive but we have the brackets and steering rack to revert to Right Hand Drive as the vehicle was originally supplied. The Engine turns over ok but its not wired up so we have not attempted to start her. The tin-work is excellent having previously been restored to a high and quite. I am informed. accurate standard. The paintwork has lifted off the floor and will require repainting. it just an adherence problem aided and abetted by our steam cleaner and is a simple fix. The Moke has front disc brakes and 12" minilite style alloy wheels. tyres all have good tread but we would replace on the basis of age. We have the hood frame and 2 front windscreens. the one fitted has been cut down but the spare is an original English item in a standard frame. there is no hood canvas and no original seats but we have collected a rear bench seat ( believed from a Portuguese Moke ) and a couple of black vinyl slim front seats which will go with the car.

It's a pretty straight forward. solid. project which I am sure will give the right person a great deal of pleasure and can be completed quite quickly
