Meet Norma Jean.

She's an original. sweet Californian starlet from the days when glamour and style were everything. Still very original (with some cosmetic upgrades). very loved and maintained over the years. She's a genuine. original factory 'Persian Pink' baby doll. Most of her bells and whistles work from new. She starts right up. drives and shifts as she should. and brakes in a straight line.

Being in her 50th year there are a few items that need attention. Typical of a dame of her vintage. the following items need to be sent to the specialist surgeon for repairs:

·        Clock– not working (I have contact details of a vintage automotive clock repairer. Most clock repairs are around the $120 mark not including removal of the dash to remove the clock)

·        Fuel Gauge – not working (usually this is the float in the sender unit that has filled with fuel over the years and sunk causing the sender to read ‘E' for Empty. The sender can be fairly easily removed from the tank and re-installed. Most new floats are around $20 and can be fitted on the end of the original sender. Worst case scenario is a new sender at around $100 from the USA)

·         Radio – not working (while the radio light come on. there is no sound. You may want to install a new sound system or if you are diehard about the old radio working. send to a specialist old car radio repairer).

·         Power Antenna – not working.

·        Bumpers – the front and rear main bumpers will need re-chroming for her to be near perfect. The front bumper has scrapes. scratches and some dings. The rear bumper (although ding free) has crazing of chrome on the right side. I decided to not rechrome the bumpers to keep the price as low as possible. The bumpers do not detract from the car being a ‘daily driver'. but if you want to take her to shows. she could do with a new chrome job.  Drive now and chrome later. One of the best chrome platers I have had over the years is here on the Gold Coast. They do all repairs – as well as triple chrome (copper. nickel and chrome). I'm happy to get that all done for the new owner at actual cost if required.

I'm also flexible on getting the little things fixed (clock. fuel gauge etc. ) for the new owner as I have the contacts locally. once a deposit is paid. Open to discussion.

About The 1959 Imperial

The 1959 Imperial was Chrysler's rival to General Motor's Cadillac. In fact it was from the '57 Chryslers that Cadillac got the idea of the huge fins for their '59 model.

She has a 350 bhp. 413 cu. in. V-8 engine. four-barrel carburetor. TorqueFlite three-speed push-button automatic transmission. independent front suspension with parallel torsion bars. semi-floating rear axle with tapered semi-elliptic leaf springs. and four-wheel. power-assisted hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase is 129"

The '59 Imperial marked the end of Virgil Exner's “Forward Look” design theme. It also heralded a number of firsts. Mechanically. Chrysler Corporation's hemispherical-head V-8 was replaced by the new 413-cubic inch “wedge” with single Carter four-barrel carburetion. developing 350 hp and 475 ft-lbs of torque while weighing a staggering 101 pounds less than the “Hemi” it replaced.

The '59 Imperials were the first cars to be assembled at Chrysler's all-new Dearborn. Michigan plant. where each vehicle received quality-control checks at every station.

Reinforcing its technological dominance. the '59 Imperial lineup introduced fingertip-controlled pushbutton-actuated heater/air conditioner unit. Jet Age innovations joined the finger-controlled TorqueFlite transmission. Auto-Pilot cruise control. radio. six-way power seats. power windows and power door locks in pampering the Imperial driver and passengers. Optional Imperial features debuting for 1959 included a self-adjusting rearview mirror and an electronic headlight beam changer.

Shows 38. 00 miles.

‘Norma Jean' is gorgeously shaped. and very enjoyable example of Chrysler Corporation's top-line 1959 Imperial models. and perhaps the crowning achievement of Virgil Exner's “Forward Look” design theme. she is sure to please.

‘Norma Jean' could be used. and shown-off. for weddings. school formals and special events hire (advertising. promotions. film work. video clips etc). She can be an income producer or an enjoyable weekend hobby fun car.

Registration

Australian complied - can be registered in any Australian state or territory. or as a classic car club car.

Wedding Car Business Opportunity

This classic Imperial was Chrysler's answer to GM's 1959 Cadillac.

1950s classic cars are in hot demand as wedding cars with the retro-look sought by brides and grooms. While we lived in Sydney over 12 years ago. we ran a fleet of 20 classic 1950s Cadillacs as wedding cars (Wild Weddings). Our cars were booked out most weekends.

Imperials offer a unique. competitive look to Cadillacs.

Wedding car hire prices: In the 1990s we booked cars out for $350/ car (before GST was introduced) with a minimum of 2 hours (+ extra $120 per hour thereafter). Many weddings went for 4 - 6 hours. Plus the 'getaway' car after the wedding reception (then $150 extra. Today. more?).

Now classic luxury American cars earn between $450 - $500 for a minimum 2 hours. (Make your own inquiries in your area to find current classic car hire rates).

Our cars in the 1990s did at least one. and sometimes two weddings per weekend (Saturday morning + afternoon. or Saturday and Sunday - and occasionally a Friday afternoon wedding). We also did international destination weddings (couples from overseas coming to Australia to get married)  during the week days. These cars end up paying for their own upkeep. and gave a very high return. It's a great way to justify an investment classic car.

This original pink car is perfect for the 'bridal car'. where the bride is driven to the wedding in the back seat with her father.

I also have a matching white 1957 Imperial (same style) for the groom and groomsmen. if you would like to purchase both cars to make a part time weekend business.

These cars as a pair will have the real potential to pay for themselves in under two years. $1000 per wedding for two cars x min. 26 weekends per year.

There is also peripheral classic car hire work for school formals. special events. movies. videos. promotions. advertising. magazine editorials etc.

I will consider a package price for both cars.

Freight

Advertised price includes freight delivery from the Gold Coast to anywhere to the north Queensland seaboard. Sydney or Melbourne (other locations enquire). I have good contacts at very competitive rates with one of the eastern seaboards biggest vehicle transport companies.

I am not a dealer. but a 25 year collector/hobbyist of American ‘golden era' classic cars. I have restored and customised many cars over that time and have many contacts in Australia and in the US. I am happy to pass on any advice or contacts to the buyer of the car if the buyer is not experienced in owning or doing any work on this car. although the attention needed is relatively minor (see above).

Finance

I also have contacts in classic car financing. If you wish to fully or part finance this car. feel free to ask.
