1965 Ford Mustang for sale
Current customer rating:
This 1965 Mustang has been off the road since 1982 (35 years).
The car will need a full restoration.
I have a transferable New York registration which matches the numbers stamped in the front apron and the door tag. The old license plates on the car are the same ones listed on the registration from 1982.
There is no body buck tag because this car was built in San Jose CA. Body buck tags were not used on that assembly line.
According to the door tag information this car started life as a Vintage Burgundy Metallic (X) with Black Crinkle Vinyl bucket seats (26). The build date code is February 11 th (11 B). The car was originally ordered through Salt Lake City (D. S. O. 73). The axle is a conventional 2. 80 open (6) and the transmission is a 4 speed (5).
The car also came with disc brakes and 2 speed wipers with the washer bag.
The car has rust in the usual places-- floors. rear frame rails. inner and outer rockers. torque boxes. cowl. trunk floors. The outer sheet metal all looks to have had filler put in when the car was painted green (see pictures).
The door striker pin area on both sides and the door hinge area on both sides looks very good.
The under hood area is pretty good with no rust on the towers. The front frame rails in the very front will need a little repair (see pictures).
All of the side glass is still in place and looks pretty good.
The stainless trim around the front windshield looks very good.
I oiled the convertible top frame and got it to go up and down. It is a manual top. The top material is all gone.
The interior is pretty well shot. The previous owner put in a 1966 front bench seat. Also the rear seat. door panels and dash pad are also from a 1966. The front bench seat is most likely to rusty to save. The back seat is definitely junk.
The car is a C-code so it should have a 289-2 V engine. but the current motor looks to be a 1968 302-2 V. The motor is stuck from sitting. It has a Holley 2 barrel on it.
The transmission is a 4 speed Borg Warner T 10 and it has a Hurst shifter.
New York did not become a title state until 1973 so any car sold in the state prior to 1973 will have a transferable registration which this car has.
Overall this car is a restoration project and it will need a complete restoration. but it will be worth every penny invested if restored correctly.
A NON-REFUNDABLE $500. 00 deposit is due through PAYPAL within 48 hours and the balance to be paid within 7 days from the end of auction. There is no warranty expressed or implied. Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs. I will help load if needed. Payment to be made by cash. cashiers check or money transfer. The car will be held until I get the all clear from my bank on any checks.
