Model T Ford tourer - 1923. Restored.

Here is my 1923 Model T Ford Tourer. She is basically stock. apart from mods to improve reliability and safety. So. she has been converted to 12v and has an alternator fitted to cope with electrical demands. The magneto works. but I run her on battery because the alternator produces lots of electrickery.  She has been converted to 12v and also has subtle indicators and a loud arrugah type electric horn. The acetylene lamps have been converted to electric and come on for the dim setting. the headlights come on for the high (bright) setting. There isn't a high/low beam on these cars. but you can see well enough. She has rear brakes. This is a very pretty example and always draws admirers when out and about.

Although now MOT exempt. she has an MOT until June next year. This was a safety precaution as she was being used for occasional wedding hire.

The soft-top has side screens and she is the later type of roof. with no annoying bars half way along the length.

The ownership history of this car is known from new and she comes with a nice little scrap-book detailing the history. including the resto and the recent work done.

She starts and stops well. Has a decent turn of speed - probably about 45mph. but I was accused of doing 50 recently.  And. is reasonably easy to steer. allowing for age and no power assistance! However. Model T cars do not have the same layout of controls as a modern car and you may need a bit of a lesson to drive it. Having said that. the drive bands come in reasonably gently and it is quite hard to stall her.

I am very happy to take you for a spin - I do work full-time. but have Sat/Sun/Mon off.

The number plate is transferrable and comes with the car - it's cute and somehow suits her.

Notes on deficits - the exhaust is a bit noisy. She comes with a replacement silencer for when the time is right. It isn't a difficult job. Some of the buttons on the upholstery need to be replaced due to the padded tops coming loose - she comes with a bag of replacements. That isn't difficult either! There are always one or two minor defects. even shortly after a restoration. I don't think there is anything to worry about with this car thoughand she should give years of good service with very little effort. Unlike modern cars. they are designed for home maintenance.  All in all. I don't think you will be disappointed with my Model T Ford. A similar car. in much less satisfactory condition recently sold for £12500 via ebay and a project car sold for £6650. I think my starting price is the absolute rock bottom price I will consider and it is less than I paid for her. so please don't ask me to do a deal for less. I am expecting it to sell for more. I'm sure you will turn a profit if you sell her in the Spring - but I need garage space for an unexpected project. so I am motivated to sell.
