1968 Chevrolet Camaro

The car came from the factory as a base Camaro with a 327. Powerglide 2 speed automatic. column shift. power steering. power brakes. air conditioning and am radio.   The previous owner dis-assembled the car with the intent to build a serious street car. He spent over 10 years buying all new parts for the car. The car was stored inside a shop the entire time. After installing new sub frames. new front end and a 10 bolt posi-traction rear end. the body was painted Marina Blue with black stripes. He then had to sell the car.

When I purchased the car it was a roller with a painted body sitting on new sub-frames and bad tires but it came with all the major parts.

The engine is a re-built 454 with a mild cam. A new Holley carb was installed. New Accel 8 mm spark plug wires and a new power steering pump and a new steering box were installed.

The new exhaust system consists of Hooker headers and Flow Master exhaust using 2 1/2 inch pipes that exit just behind the rear wheels.

The transmission is a Turbo 400 that has been re-built to handle the 454's power. The rear end is a 10 bolt posi-traction from a Iroc Camaro. This rear end also has disc brakes. The car has disc brakes front and rear.

The suspension is all new consisting of a complete new heavy duty front end and using heavy duty springs and Bilstein shocks. The rear suspension consists of new heavy duty leaf springs and Bilstein shocks.

The new fuel system consists of all new gas tank with a new sending unit. new gas lines and new fuel pump.

The new brake system consists of new brake calipers. pads. new lines. new power brake booster. new master cylinder and the correct proportioning valve.

A new cooling system was installed consisting of new 4 row radiator. new water pump. hoses and 6 blade fan. The engine runs in the 180/190 degree range.

The body was re-mounted to the sub-frames with all new mounts. All the glass is original except the new front windshield. Most of the original windshield trim was reused. All new rubber door trim was used around the doors. trunk and windows. The trunk has been re-painted using correct black and aqua spatter paint and sealer. The original front grill and rear lights were reused. All new light bulbs and head lights were installed and work properly.

All new interior was installed including new carpet. nbsp;new headliner. door panels. arm rests. nbsp;and new dash board pad were installed. The original seats were recovered and all seat padding was installed. A lot of new sound and heat insulation was installed. A new center console with gauges and wiring was installed. A Tictoc tach was installed.  A new light switch. wiper switch and ignition switch were installed. All the switches. tach. clock and gauges work as they should.

The car rolls on new Yokohama tires mounted on the original wheels. The rear wheels were widened to fit the new rear end. It has the original wheel covers and new trim rings.

Great pains were taken to find and use correct nuts. bolts and fasteners on the car.

 I  ordered a new Gen 4  air conditioning system and it will be installed before this auction ends. The Gen 4 system replaces the old ac system. The Gen 4 is a self contained system for heat. ac and defroster and replaces the original heater box under the dash. Since this car had ac from the factory. the Gen 4 will use the original control switches and vents. The only thing under the hood is a small compressor and a condenser. All the large  covers on the fire wall are removed and replaced with a cover which frees up a lot of room under the hood.

Bottom line is that this is a completely rebuilt car that runs very strong and attracts attention every time I take it out of the garage. Please excuse the quality of the pictures. The car was covered in shop dust when the pictures were taken. I will be adding more soon. I have over 24K in the car right now.
