1959 GMC/Chevrolet Apache Stepside Pickup. 101 Series 1/2 Ton shortbed 3 speed manual transmission. Rare GMC version of the twin headlight Chevrolet Apache produced in the Pontiac Michigan plant. Originally built with a straight six engine but as is popular in the States was later fitted with a small block Chevrolet 350 5. 7 V8 and comes fitted with Edelbrock carburetor and inlet manifold and chrome rocker covers. 15 inch Rally wheels with chrome hubcaps and trims. Dual exhaust system.
An exceptional rock solid example that has just been fully repainted in GM 1950's Flame Red with cream roof and grill. New bench seat in matching red and cream with red piping and door panels painted in contrasting cream. Complete with new weather seals. lack edged carpeting and matching headlining both of which have been fitted with high density sound proofing. The rear bed was removed during repainting to allow full access to the body and revealed a completely rust free chassis. Quite outstanding for a vehicle now 54 years old. Only imported in 2007 from a dry state with just one previous owner in the UK. The pickup bed has been fitted with a new hardwood and galvanized steel floor and new tailgate chain set.
Being pre-1960 this classic does not now require an MOT. However we feel common sense dictates it should so it has just been given a new certificate which runs through to August 2014. It is of course tax exempt and currently taxed until May 2014. We have just fitted a new Summit chrome air cleaner. ew battery. ew fuel pump and given it an oil and filter change. Has been converted to a 12 volt system and fitted with an auxiliary electric cooling fan.
This is an exceptional example of classic 1950's American motoring that draws huge amounts of fond attention wherever it goes.
