Porsche's 911E model of 1969-1973 essentially replaced the
short-lived 911L (Luxus). The 911E was designed to be the more
comfortable. more drivable model of the 911 - fitting between the
tamer 911T (Touring) and the high-performance type 911S (Super). In
these years. the least-expensive model in Porsche's range was
comprised of the 912. followed by the type 914. The 911E's
designation derives from the German word for injection:
einspritzung. The mechanical fuel injection "MFI" system used on
the 911E (and 911S) was jointly-developed by Bosch and Porsche. It
is similar to the injection system used in the Carrera 6 of 1966
and in addition to more precise control of the fuel-air mixture and
equality of distribution among the cylinders (compared to
carburetors). the MFI contributed toward meeting the nascent
emissions control regulations of the time.

Presented in its original colour scheme of red with a
contrasting black interior. this increasingly collectable lefthand
drive 'E' variant is accompanied by an extensive history. Supplied
to California in 1971. numerous bills from Valhalla Automotive
detail the care this 911 underwent. More recently. in 2003. and
back in the UK. RPM Specialist Cars of Knaresborough rebuilt the
bottom end and five months later. they dropped the engine out and
rebuilt the gearbox and checked the clutch for wear. New
period-style bucket seats have also been installed by Strasse. br/>(Porsche specialists) with both original passenger and driver units
available if required. Supplied with the original owners manual an
MoT test certificate valid until July. 2014. this rare 911 is
accurately priced and should complement any Porsche collection
well.

Interested parties should note that the correct period
steering wheel will be fitted by the time of the sale.
