1968 Porsche 912 SWB Coupe Exotic Classics is pleased to present this ‘last year SWB' 1968 Porsche 912 Coupe in Burgandy with Black leatherette/cord interior. 5 speed transmission and very original. The car is numbers correct with Porsche Certificate of Authenticity included. Very new interior with corduroy inserts. carpets. mats. everything. Very nice color combo. Correct '68 only' reflectors are there. All new Glasurit paint in factory correct Burgandy. New seals. bumper decos. and more. Complete motor has been gone through and rebuilt. All tin. hardware. mechanicals. Smog pump('68). transmission. pedal assembly. calipers. rotors. shocks . suspension. has been serviced and correct. New correct 165/15 tires. SWB means ‘Short Wheelbase'. All '65-'68 Porsche 911/912's were that until they changed to LWB (Long Wheelbase) body in 1969. Almost identical to its 6 cylinder 911 counterpart. Porsche decided to install the 356 SC motor into their new design back in '65 to appeal to its passionate crowd that had seen their beloved 356 production come to an end. While cheaper in price and short of some comforts of the 911. the 912 did outsell the 911 three to one back then and were used hard for many decades on bulletproof German engineering. The 912 motor was also more ‘forward' in the chassis and gave the car better center on gravity for better handling and cornering. The ‘901' design of the 911/912 is celebrating its 50 th Anniversary this year and prices of correct and similar 911's are commanding well over $150 K + in today's market.
