The 1965 Shelby Cobra is perhaps the purest expression of automotive performance ever put on the streets. But when you look at the time. money. and effort it takes to build your own. you'll realize how much you really just want a quality Factory Five replica like this one with a performance-built 302 V8 and an irresistible price.


Factory Five got the formula right adding welcomed amounts of room without taking away from the classic Cobra proportions. You'll feel the difference the moment you sit behind the wheel. but more on that in a moment. First. just marvel at the company's 20+ years of fiberglass Cobra knowledge. They understand the gentle European curves originally created by AC. and the aggressive fenders and hood that Carroll Shelby needed to harness all that added power. This body looks exceptional in deep metallic blue. and just as important. it also gets the details right. The dual white stripes are an iconic touch. and the flip-up gap cap is a great reminder of this car's track ability. But there's something slightly different about this one. it feels like there is a bit more of a sinister touch. That's thanks to traditionally bright elements being rendered in black. It gives a little more attitude in places like the quick jack bumpers and roll hoop. And it definitely adds a more visual attitude to the wicked rumbling side pipes.


The interior also gets the Shelby attitude right with wrap-around leather buckets and Simpson racing seatbelts. The driver gets the full Cobra experience with the three spoke wood steering wheel and a shift lever that's been reversed to fit the driver perfectly. All of this looks fantastic. which just reaffirms the little seat time on this low mileage build. There's a full gauge package. which is critical if you're using your Cobra on the track. There's no radio. no heater. no A/C this is a competition machine that's all about the driving experience and nothing else needs to get in the way.


When you open the hood. you (and everyone else) will always love to see the proper Cobra valve covers and long air grabber. More than just the Cobra-specific components. this powerplant has a nice overall presence. That's thanks to recent servicing that includes new plugs. wires. Pertronix electronic ignition. alternator. electric fan. and much more. And beyond all the correct fresh and reliable components lies the heart of a great blue oval beast. Ford's 302 cubic-inch V8 is already a legend on the streets. and it only gets better with enhancements like the Holley Performance four-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock intake. This V8 does a great job of moving the lightweight fiberglass body. and you can stay in the powerband with ease thanks to the five-speed manual transmission. Of course. power is nothing without control. That's why this Cobra comes with front disc brakes and new BF Goodrich g Force Sport Comp tires on this five-spoke Shelby wheels.
