Body. 1978 Morris Marina Mk2 Estate. It has had a bare metal respray in VW Anthracite. Fitted with an early Mk1 1300 style grill and front/rear bumpers. Doors and tailgate have been shaved of locks and handles and are now operated by remote controlled solenoids. Body and underside is 100% solid with no rust.

Interior. Mk1 vinyl door cards. ed lether BRM seats. Mk3 marina black carpet set. Mk3 marina dash and gauges in black with the top half of the dash being colour coded to the bodywork. centre consol fitted with chrome autogauge rev counter. mp3 player plug in powering and Alpine amp and a pair of 6” Kicker speakers in the rear tailgate. Original boot rubber mat in excellent condition and head cloth is original and perfect. The original steering wheel has been repainted in grey metal flake for a seventies custom look.

Engine bay. The engine bay has been fully smoothed out with all wiring now hidden by running it through the chassis legs. battery relocated. washer bottle relocated. brake pipes re routed and hidden. The servo and pedal box have been colour coded and the engine detailed.

Drive train. The engine is a 2 litre fiat twin cam unit. which has been stripped and re gasketed with a genuine fiat gasket set. new valve stem oil seals. Lancia delta integrale head gasket and head bolts used. New cam belt and tensioner. water pump. clutch. clutch cable. rebuilt Weber carb. distributor cap. rotor arm. ht leads and plugs all fitted at the same time. The engine runs great and pulls strongly through all the gears. It is standard factory spec so should be producing around 115 bhp. The engine does have a K&N air filter fitted and a new stainless steel straight through exhaust system. Gear box is a fiat 5 speed with a short shifter and custom made two piece prop shaft. The cooling system is a new transit radiator and 11” facet fan. this cools the engine perfectly and the temperature always sits in the middle of the gauge.

Suspension/Brakes. The front suspension has been upgraded to late model Ital spec which has been fitted with Gaz coil over shocks. re bushed with super flex polyurethane bushes. It has been lower substantially. probably about 3 -4 inches. Reconditioned steering rack. new track rod ends and new short bump stops fitted. The front hubs have been re drill and new stronger wheel studs fitted. the stud pattern is now Ford 4x108 for a better choice of wheels compared to the original pattern that is quite restrictive. The front brakes have been up graded to 260mm vented discs and modern single pot sliding callipers fitted. This is done using specially machined Renault Clio discs and adapting the marina caliper bracket to mount the Clio caliper. These are fed through custom made stainless steel braided brake lines. The rear suspension now runs on 2 leaf marina saloon springs to lower the car and 2” lowering blocks on the axle. resulting in a 3-4 inch drop on the rear. Again there are coil over shocks fitted to the rear. Braking has been up graded with larger rear drums and stainless braided lines. All brake pipes throughout the car have been renewed in copper. The stud pattern on the rear has also been changed to ford 4x108. Wheels are 7x17 Lenso Reisen with 205/40x17 tyres all of which are about half way worn. The wheels have been custom painted and one off centre caps made.

The car has MOT until August 2014 and is taxed until end of August 2013 and I have an up to date V5C in my name. The car is in very good all round condition and I would have no hesitation to drive it any where. Its is however 35 years old so doesn't drive like a modern car and has been substantially lowered so ride quality has been compromised due to the reduced suspension travel and stiff springs. It drives well and handles good but can be a bit harsh on rough roads. the suspension could be raised to cure this but I prefer it low.
